Very well said !!!!!!

I see President Trump mentoring leaders like Prime Minister Trudeau ( whom I respect deeply as our PM , yet not a big fan of  of socialism ) over the next few years . Mentoring in the fine art of capitalism . Trudeau will see the truth , just his dad ( RIP , Pierre ) indoctrinated him the same way that the progressive liberals of today have been done .

Trudeau is very intelligent and obviously exceptionally brilliant and he plays to his voters incredibly well , ie the legalization of marijuana on October 1

Wrong show. It is "America's Got Talent " and "The Voice" who have mentors, not "The Apprentice" sequel we are watching now.

His words can't be relied upon to  convey his real feelings or intentions.  It is his deeds we must use as the measure of the man.

Peace in Korea , re unification of real families really being separated .

Great deeds , great man ,

His words that his button was bigger than buddy’s , and that his button worked were the words that set up the deed

The left is still very unhappy, but they don't seem to know what to do, or how to express their rage right now. They just got what they wanted, or claimed to want, so you'd think that they'd be celebrating, but they're still scowling and snarling. They're not quite sure of which path to take toward uniting to express their anger about something, anything. It's like there are a few options of yet-to-be determined potential approaches that they might be able to turn into a public rage-fest, but they're not all agreed on which has the best change of boiling up and becoming the latest pretend excuse to hate Trump and his supporters. I think the deal is that most of them are too stupid and politically green to see the whole chess game, and are waiting for their betters among them to point out the pitfalls, such as, oh, yeah, those pictures were from the Obama days, so maybe that's the wrong way to go.

Great entertainment!

Lollllzzzzz Miss Carol , you kill me and slay my life on a daily basis !!!! Have a blessed day , that was literally a “ laugh out loud “ moment for me

Glad to entertain you my friend, but you must not get killed for real.  When Emperor Trump starts extraditing people from Canada for not appreciating him

enough, I will need you to speak up for me. Maybe even help me claim sanctuary, say in your squash courts disguised as a Korean.  I know you would help me even at the risk of your club membership.

What I don’t get is how can Trump justify tariffs on Canadian steel as well as the car manufacturers?

Oooour steel workers are all unionized and make as much or morrrre than American workers.  They also pay a crapload more taxes so how is that uncompetitive? If anything due to the steel company having to pay exorbitant prices for hydro due to years of Ontario buckfuttery jacking up the cost of electricity to 1000x what it used to be our steel industry has gone from 19 manufacturers down to like..2?

The cars assembled in Ontario are made from components that are 85% manufactured in the USA.  Again the workers are payed as much or more than their US counterparts.  They are US companies that have offices in Canada.  How is a tariff justified?

We are supposed to be allies yet Trump is treating us like a hostile nation, the tariffs are more like sanctions that would be applied tooooo..Iran?

Im not a T2 fan by any means, in fact he is a village idiot.

Trump just mentioned his reasons for tariffs and Canada had tariffs on two American products he knew of, including dairy products. I saw Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her family of seven were kicked out of a Red Hen Restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky  . . . because she works for Donald Trump. Many people will not go to a Chick F Lay because they will not hire "queer folk." I wonder if this restaurant will have some repercussions? A waiter tweeted that they had been seated for two minutes when the manager kicked them out.

Well as for the dairy..due to US farmers using synthetic growth hormone which is illegal in Canada most of your dairy would be disqualified anyyyyways.  That and the amount of dairy we actually export to the US is negligible.

I AM however all for no tariffs on either side.  I don’t agree with Canadian government subsidizing ANY industry.

As for softwood lumber?  The biggest contention the US has is that most of our lumber is harvested from crown land.  The industry pays a “stump” fee for every tree harvested that goes to crown coffers.  American Wood is harvested off of private land.  Personally I’m not a fan of the lumber industry...

I am now able to write on OL without being "electronically hassled." It is still a mystery why it was occurring but I am glad it is over.  When Trump was discussing tariffs on the EU he explicitly said he was for free trade and no tariffs but he was not for stupid trade. You whack us, we will whack you in retaliation.  But he will not do it for crony capitalistic reasons.

I agree with you Jules and the only conclusion I can come to is that Trump is either just affronted that Canada should have a prosperous economy without an American-style capitalist  hymnbook. Or it is just greed; relatively easy pickings off someone else's labour.

Remember too that every American industry that operates here saves its owners millions in the health care costs it would have to pay in the US. That was a big factor in the Auto Pact, which no one (except maybe the workers if they aren't feeling well) seems to care about now.

Jonathan,

And they often swallow propaganda talking points whole without any critical thought.

I like rule number one of any cop (or bandit, for that matter) for finding the truth of misbehavior.

Find out where the money goes. Then go there and start looking...

Ditto for power...

In spades when both are involved.

But with sex (as in money, sex and power), we can leave that to the social justice warriors.

And, in that case, don't even bother looking...

:)

And so do you, often, relying on your reliable sources and doing your critical thinking later, if your conclusions are questioned, and justifying them every which way but logical, often. We are all human beings, deeply protective of our deepest beliefs.

If it is mainstream fake news it must be wrong, right?  So I am right, though you think I'm left, I mean wrong.

Carol,

Wrong.

It must be mistrusted.

Also, the agenda, usually hidden, but not always, must be identified in order to provide the proper context for the stories presented.

In ancient times, the agenda of news media used to be to inform the public, thus the tactics were WWWWWH (who, what, when, where, why and how). In other words, news companies used to serve the audience.

Nowadays, the agenda is most often to fool the public in the service of promoting a political power-grab or power-maintenance by a person or group. Thus the tactics include deception, but also the truth if it fits. The agenda informs the product. In other words, the mainstream fake news crony corporations serve a person/people in power, not the audience.

If you had asked instead: "If it is mainstream fake news it must suck, right?"

I would have answered, "Right."

:)

But Marc, Obama Clinton and the Bushes did not separate them in the first place! Only Trump did that.

Incorrect but my actual point was was that he is bringing about the reunification of North  and South Korea and has started the process to bring families together , do you not give him any kudos on this ?

When that glorious day of reunification dawns, I sure will sing hallelujah.  Starting processes, as our former PM did with Reagan on NAFTA,  only garners kudos in retrospect. Many years later when the process is completed. I hope this process will be completed in my lifetime and the kudos can be justly bestowed.

Re my example, I was totally against NAFTA when it was first proposed, and distrusted both Mulroney and Reagan, but as it progressed I saw that the sky did not fall and I gained more respect for both leaders.  I mean, you have to feel a certain compassion for a politician who candidly says "there's no whore like an old whore" and takes backhanders from German lobbyists.. He was the last of the old school. I fear, and makes me feel all nostalgic.

Perhaps America should join Canada and reclaim their position under the British crown. Reunification? Would that actually be good? What if . . . can you imagine the day after the totalitarian north becomes a free land?

Thank you Michael for the CClean idea. It works great and it was free. I have an icon on my screen now and I may do as you did and get the "pay version." Pizza is good but pizza with pepperoni is even better.

Sure, good idea - you can join us and regain your position as a British colony, plus all the benefits of being part of the Commonwealth on the fast track to becoming an independent country!

But you will still have to pay extra for tea, that's only fair.

Jules I have lost the thread of this one, but wanted to ask you, you said you were going to Fort McMurray recently - I thought you lived in Ontario,-- anyway I am just watching Fort McMurray-Still Standing on tv just now and am so admiring of that community. Do you live there now or were just travelling?

Carol,

You really need to read more of the mainstream fake news than you already do.

Seriously. Even the mainstream fake news says this is wrong.

Michael

Yeah, apparently Carol's mindset is that if she didn't see it reported in the left media, then it didn't happen. I've been listening to Jon Justice, a local radio guy, who did stints elsewhere prior to here, including being a member of the group of media who visited Obama's detainment facilities in 2014 (the year of the photos of children in cages with foil blankets), and he talks about children being removed from their parents. Is he wrong, Carol? If you just make shit up and wish and believe it really hard, it becomes true?
