Rachel Maddow comments on Obama defense of NDAA law

Obama is a remarkable man. He made 2 speeches at the same time. Imagine that, 2 speeches at the same time. Even more remarkable, he was born in 3 places: Hawaii, Kenya, and Krypton. There is a birth certificate that he was born in Hawaii, and another birth certificate that he was born in Kenya. And he said so his own self that he was born on Krypton. That's really awesome, being born in 3 places.

Do prisoners of war have any rights that the U.S. government must respect?

P.O.W. is not the same as a person arrested on a criminal matter.

Can someone clarify the legalities here? Thanks.

The NDAA, National Defense Authorization Act, brings to mind the confrontation of the British Barons and King John of England in June 1213 which led to the signing of the Magna Carta. One kind of action by the king which prompted the Magna Carta was his imprisonment of men without charge nor trial nor hearing in front of a judge.

Although BHO will characterize someone as a traitor or as one who intends to attack the country, an enemy combatant, the NDAA will give the president broad latitude in his selection of those to be detained indefinitely without a hearing, without the application of habeas corpus and in any case the whole affair will be done in secret.

So let us see, BHO signed the NDAA, Romney has said he would uphold it, and only Ron Paul expressed his intent to repeal it upon being sworn in as president.

Ron Paul's remarks recently suggest his plan to influence the future of the Republican Party, its current platform, and placement of Ron Paul supporters in positions of influence within the RP.

In light of Rachel Maddow's remarks it appears she can be fairly objective on this issue for someone thought to be on the left.

So if the Peter Principle President was to be born again, would he be his own immaculate trinity?

In one sense it depends on how much any government wants to uphold the laws of war and in the end universal human rights. In practice that is a can of worms.
