  1. Gigi; I have heard very little about the NAU. When I do it is poo-pooed as paranoia That makes me suspicious.

Chris, Yeah, It's been called "fearmongering" to even question it and the fact that there has been no congression involvement or oversite makes me very uncomfortable. Both the Prime Minister of Canada and the President of Mexico say it will be put in place as early as 2010. Bush has been silent, though he has been at these meetings and in conference with Robert Pastor of the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations). Giuliani via Bracewell and Giuliani , represent Cintra , the Spanish based consortium who want to build and own that super highway.....Two socialist countries + U.S. = The North American Union... Shouldn't we know more ?

  2. Alphonso,

Bracewell and Giuliani represent Cintra ,the spanish investment firm who will own the super highway. As we know, the Council on foreign relations, Robert Pastor, the Prime Minister of Canada , the President of Mexico and our President , have been working on the North American Union together ,which would seem a conflict of interest for someone in Giuliani's position or any President elect , who's job it would be to protect the sovereignty of the U.S. I would look into Ron Paul's positions if you care about maintaining this Constitutional Republic.

How do people like the term "socialist dictators" ?

    Gigi

You left out The Bilderburgers, The Illuminati and The Free Masons. And the Constitutional Republic has been dead since Woodrow Wilson's administration, if not sooner. The last nail was hammered into the coffin with the passage of the 16th and 17th Amendments. The latter removed the last vestige of the Sovereignty of the States.

    Ba'al Chatzaf

Okay Ba'al Chatzaf, How do you think we should procede ? Without a congress or senate ? Who has a say when we are not consulted on this NAU proposition ? What do you see as a perfect system ? Hugely curious, Gigi

  4. Mrs.Branden, It's easy to see why you posted this parody/smear thinking it was real as I've seen several respected "news" blogs who have made the same mistake and have not corrected themselves at this hour. I have great respect for this forum and yourself for correcting the error. Gigi

  5. :( I am a big fan of Dr.Paul and knew it was false the second I read this here , even before noticing the date. I most respectfully ask Barbara what her specific arguements are against Dr. Paul. If they've been posted elsewhere in this forum, I would very much appreciate being directed to those posts. Barbara, you know not what influence you possess, or maybe you do, and I would be very grateful to hear your specific premises as to your dislike of Dr. Paul. With the most sincere respect, Gigi

Michael, We seem to have cross-posted. I appreciate what your saying. Obviously, though, it is a hoax that has had the ability to be repeated as fact by equally respected sources ("Conservative" blogs) where it will not be cleared up, such as it has been here thanks to your persistent appreciation for truth.

I have just googled this fake event and found many and current referances to this event as if it were fact. This too shall pass, but not with out effecting lazier minds with it's poison. That makes me sad. Gigi

    Who Hates Americans?

    By Ishmael Vera

    FrontPageMagazine.com

    October 15, 2007

Obviously there are no 31 days in November, so "November 31, 2007" as given in the article is wrong. I have tried to Google this issue to find corroboration or discredit. The best objective information I have found so far comes from a site I do not like (antiwar.com): David Horowitz Slanders Antiwar Activists, Ron Paul. Here is a quote from that article on the research they did (which one can find after wading through the rhetoric):

None of the groups listed have this “event” mentioned on their websites, and a Google search produces only results from the original hoax article.

I will probably do some more research on this myself, especially trying to find some indication of the existence of this event, but there are two things that I find disturbing at this point.

    1. Despite one characterization in the antiwar.com blog entry, there is nothing in the presentation of the article on Front Page other than the false date to indicate that it is a satire (if it is one). It is presented as a serious article.

    2. On looking at Google, there are conservative blogs all over the place starting to cite and highlight this article as fact, then blasting the so-called participants of this "event" with typical rhetoric. I do not imagine many of them will be happy about having their emotions manipulated and made to look like fools because of a hoax.

I do hope there is something behind this other than what it looks like: a plain barefaced lie. I can think of nothing more effective to discredit a person or publication than this kind of monkey-shine. Front Page has published some good stuff and it would be a shame to throw it's reputation in the garbage.

To be fair, I want to wait a bit and see if any explanations are forthcoming. The way things look at the present are not too good.

    Michael

Michael , THANK YOU ! This is a smear campaign concocted by Horowitz. Dr.Paul would never participate in anything of this temper. All those who enable this kind of filthly lying like those "Conservative" blogs are guilty . Look at Ron Paul's schedule, there is nothing of this kind of activity going on involving him. I am truly shocked and dismayed to find this here.

  8. Gigi,

    LOL...

Welcome to the world of online bickering.

Don't worry too much about Bob. Nobody takes him too seriously (although at times he is very intelligent). He sometimes gets fixated on a notion that blinds him to all else. Then one day he eats too many jalapeño peppers and gets horrible indigestion. He goes on a forum on some kind of lopsided Dom Quixote crusade so he can think about something else because his bowels are worrying him to death. Since nobody pays any attention to the idea itself on its own merits (after all, it is lopsided), he starts peppering his posts with terms like "bullshit," "fucking" and other marks of erudition and makes a few nasty personal insults. At least that gets him some attention and the jalapeños stop hurting for a while.

    :)

Underneath it all, I sense that Bob is a good guy. He's just insecure a bit and has to bluster to cover the inner hole.

    Michael

    Michael,

 LOL... It's great to be here with you good people !

  9. Intellectual sophistication ? To point out and recognize an objective truth is BAD ? By the way , I wasn't saying they were the best basket weavers, only that a paticular culture values basket weaving more than most. And why is that, I ask myself ? Especially when this other culture, let's say my own, will do well to have that same emphasis ? And how to achieve that kind of rational value for myself ? How to undo my original culturally manifested, flase premise that baskets were the devils testicles, so I to, could carry my gardening in one trip back to the house? Anyway, your point is that it does a deservice to name the belief system/culture/tribe behind certain/or all, activity indicators because it streotypes complex issues, but the bottom line is knowing ,where someone is from , what their culture practices include, the philosophy they grew up amidst, what the foundation of these beliefs was made of, helps when trying to teach yourself/or others to fish. I don't say "All so-and-so's are basket weavers." , but I will say "If you want a great basket, go to the so-and-so's and they will most likely lead you in the right direction." and also "Get back to me in a couple years ,cause I'm gonna be learning basket weaving based on so-and-so teaching of basket craftsmenship." :sorcerer:

  10. To point out attributes in a culture and to name the attribute and the culture is not racist. Wow, will I be called racist if I say one particular group of people are excellent basket weavers or another make delicious cheese ?! Or the culture of one group seems to work more efficiently then this other based on empirical evidence , Is that racist ?! Or is it Objective ?

  11. Not to get off topic, I think gold rocks :) , but Robert , what arm of the military do you/did you serve ?

Signed, Curious (or Gigi, same thing)

Gold especially rocks, and my favorite gold coins have no mention of God on them (this is coincidental). They are the Mexican 50 Peso coins minted around the 1940s, simply gorgeous coins, right up there with the St. Gaudens $20 double eagle.

I served in the 1st Forward Light Infantry Secret Squirrel Psyops Battalion Brigade Regimental Command of the Royal Army of the People's Republic of Freedonia.

Naw, I just made that up. Actually, I served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army National Guard, and New York State Guard. Currently I am on a V.A. disability pension and chilling out with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Why do you want to know? Are you trying to steal my identity? ;)

No, no identity theft. But by the way, what's your SSN ? And where do you keep these coins ? Just curios... LOL

Thanks for answering my question. I lost a pile on the stock market and definitely want to persue more gold ! Those coins sound lovely.

I'm going to see ifI can look at them w/ google. Did your battalion use wrist rockets on those nasty squirrels? hee hee

Disability ? Hope it's nothing horriblely discomforting...Thank you again for responding.

  12. Robert,

I want to be fair so you understand where I am coming from. (The following is one minor example, so please do not think I will only do this in the future. I have many other plans and activities that are in the beginning phase.) The guy who did maintenance work on my computer is a Muslim of Indian origin. He was a great guy and extremely competent, surprisingly so to be honest. He gave me a discount and also some extremely practical unrelated telephone support for free.

We discussed Islam and the values of freedom (very lightly, since this was a first discussion and the reason for me being there was commercial). We will probably discuss more as time goes along. A discussion like that entails both listening and speaking, otherwise, there is no hearing on the other side. I mentioned Ayn Rand and he mentioned the person whose teachings he most liked, Zakir Naik. But as a start, we mostly discussed paths of self discovery and things like that.

It has been a while since we have spoken, but there is nothing in my relationship with him that I think would justify becoming aggressive about terrorists and trying to make him fear me. I can keep an eye open, I suppose, but in my heart, I feel this man is a good person. This extends to the part of his staff that was his family, therefore Muslim, too. If I had to sum up the behavior I observed in one word, the adjective would be "gentle."

Can you give me a good reason to not discuss love of mankind with him to establish common ground? Does this really make me look weak to him or a singer of Kumbaya? I know I am asking you to channel, but I am making concrete efforts one-on-one at persuasion and I am trying to share this perspective with you.

In our present discussion here on OL, you are witnessing how I stick to principles I believe in regardless of the rhetoric. Is there any reason to think I am different when I talk to Muslims?

I am not talking to a "them." I am talking to an individual man. And I want him to consider individual rights and separation of church and state along with his religion. I want him to open his mind to at least hear and analyze the message, so whatever works for that is a good thing. I can only worry about how it looks and all the rest later.

    Michael

Michael, Perfectly reasonable (darn ,no sanction ability) :) ! As to the Pope and what he reads, that he has read a worthy opponent to mysticism such as Rand is gratifying, for there is much more than the inquisition that prove the Roman Catholic church guilty of deception.

  13. Wow, I too, thought Dr. Paul was off his game. This WAS effective ! I closed my eyes and everything changed. That youtube video Ad challege was really interesting. I had to take the bus the other day and the television commercials, I was subjected to for the 20 minutes on the bus , for sub-prime loans for homes and cars, bankruptcy and litigious answers from law firm commercials to irresposible spending, and life styles of the rich and famous dominated. It became much easier for me to see why anyone would persue these irrational avenues enmasse as has been happening. On the other hand, people make choices and I don't blame the messenger.

  14. I'm Gigi. I am a student, mother, wife, seamstress and entrepenuer with goals on creating a business. I consider myself an Objectivist.

I am at RoR as well. I love truth and the seeking of it.

I think humor is one of the greatest tool to imparting truth. Persuasion rocks ! I really like this site and hope to be someone who contributes in kind.
