It would have been much better if Ayn Rand would have added another hero to the story, a scientist of some sort, who could have cured those retarded children and give them sanity.

Michael, thank you for the good words.
You have forgotten to mention that Erica is not only very intelligent but also very beautiful.

BB: I don't accept the idea that to be mistaken is the equivalent of being evil. Do you?
I think to be mistaken is not the equivalent of being evil, but only when we honestly believe the our actions will not cause people to suffer or die.

Art is not about shocking people with disgust, but to inspire them with the good the sublime, with the best.
How sad. Is that all that you see, Ciro, when you look at the sculpture of Lapper? An object of disgust rather than a human being with whom to identify? Is your only reaction to be aghast that your tender sensibilities have been offended or that your art rules have been disobeyed?
Maybe the word disgust is not appropriate here, because I sound like I don't have compassion for people like Lepper, but I do.
What I meant was that when I look at deformed art, like Lepper's, it disturbs me.
It makes me feel sick to my stomach. It is not a feeling of anger that I feel, but a sense of fear, more or less.

Dear Angie,

Ciro-- he's not Italian, he's Austrian. :-)
Just give it time to develop-- living with him is different than traveling with him is different than camping with him is different than etc. etc. Moving is a huge step and I didn't officially decide until we saw each other two times... and even then, I have a "back out" plan.
Jenna,
If you were my daughter, my advice to you would be, to have fun and enjoy life, but before you decide to get merried with your Italian boyfriend, become an affirmed professional, first.
Ciro
Damn!
I thought he was Italian!
Well... then, forget my advice.

How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.
Happy birthday, Barbara.

MW writes:I've worked hard all my life—for others, making others rich, while I got used up like a dirty rag and tossed away.
During my 32 years in business, I have had many people working for me, and -I have never used up anyone like a dirty rag and then tossed him away . A good business man, would never use good workers like dirty rags, it would be against his own interest and that of the company.

I wonder why Phil has never quit posting on forums, where he has been humiliated and misrespected many times?

If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.

Brant: As I read that scene Dominique could have stopped that "rape" any time she wanted.
Brant, I am courious to know how could she have stopped that?

I think that Ayn Rand -apart her philosophy- wrote the book also with the intent to make a lot of money from its sales. Rape scenes, are included today, in almost every book or movie--especially in old movies. The majority of men, love to watch a woman being raped. Rape scenes, is a tactic that every writer and filmmaker uses when making movies or writing books.
And thus, I don't think that there is anything of philosophical in the scene where Roark raped Dominique, it was written that way for the only purpose to sell more copies, I think.
Now days a Martini is more appropriate.

Many enjoy chicken soup in the winter or more commonly when they are sick as it provides "comfort." It is a comfort food. I use it to help soothe a sore throat and it makes you all warm and cuddly inside. Here is a wonderful alternative to Chicken Soup. Egg Drop Soup, it is easy to make from scratch, or from canned chicked broth, or can also be bought in powdered form. The latter, all you have to do is add water, one well beaten egg, and soy sauce if desired. Here is an easy variation but will also provide some links to whoever wants to make it from scratch or would like to add to it.
4 cups chicken broth
2 eggs, well beaten
1 green onion, thinly sliced (add more or less if desired)
soy sauce to taste (optional)
pepper to taste (optional)
Bring chicken broth and green onions to a boil, gradually add egg to boiling broth, stirring gently in one direction, remove from heat, season with soy sauce and pepper if desired.
Here are some additional links for anyone interested in making it from scratch or just wants to add to it.
Angie, here is the recipe for the chicken broth
1 Put the leftover bones and skin from a chicken carcass into a large stock pot and cover with cold water. Add celery, onion, carrots, and Italian parsley.
2 Add salt and pepper, about 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of pepper.
3 Bring to a boil and reduce heat to bring the stock to a low simmer.
4 Simmer uncovered at least 4 hours, occassionally skimming off the foam that comes to the surface.
5 Remove the bones and strain the stock.
Ciao
