Newt is not nearly as consistently libertarian as is Ron Paul.

Although Newt Gingrich appears to be impressing debate watchers with his eloquence and knowledge, he is not every libertarian's dream candidate given some of his views. Tom Woods is being quoted as follows:

<<<"http://www.tomwoods.com/blog/gingric...rise-in-polls/

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has a reputation for being a right-wing ideologue. But it is surely a strange right-wing ideologue who credits Franklin Roosevelt with lifting the country out of the Great Depression, joins with John Kerry on “climate change,” and supports (among many other things) the Medicare prescription drug benefit, federal programs to pay for more teachers, Internet access for every American, and rewards to students who take challenging math and science courses — not to mention his sympathy for federal energy policy and Hillary Clinton’s proposed national health-care database, among other things….

Ron Paul of Texas, this site is dedicated to facilitating grassroots initiatives that aim to restore a sovereign limited constitutional Republic based on the rule of law, states' "rights" and individual rights. Debbie Wasserman Schultz head of the DNC would love to have Mr. Newt as the Republican Candidate.

Personal baggage. Ethics violations. Influence peddling. But he is a good debater.

Bain, Capitalism attacks, supported cap and trade. But Lordy! That man can talk.

Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Gingrich during his term as speaker. After extensive investigation and negotiation by the House Ethics Committee, Gingrich was reprimanded and fined $300,000 by a 395–28 House vote. It was the first time in history a speaker was disciplined for ethical wrongdoing. That was so long ago, we should forget about it.

According to L. H. Carter, Gingrich's campaign treasurer, Gingrich said of his first wife: "She's not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife of the President. And besides, she has cancer.” He disputes those words. Shouldn’t we take the Speaker at his word?

From The Buzz.

On home turf, Wasserman Schultz will lead Democratic offensive amid GOP primary.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the DNC, will be all over her home state in the coming week as Democrats hope to display their organizational muscle amid the GOP primary.

Wasserman Schultz said in an interview Saturday that the goal is to illustrate a "direct contrast" between President Obama and the Republicans. She singled out GOP plans to restructure Medicare and allow private investment accounts for Social Security -- two issues that get a lot of attention in Florida.

"This is a make or break moment for the middle class," Wasserman Schultz said. "And this is what I think Floridians, particularly independents and moderates, will respond to, that in America we should create policy so that everybody has an opportunity to be successful. The trickle down policies of the past don't work."

Democrats also see the coming week as an opportunity to step up their campaign efforts. Wasserman Schultz will host organizing events in Jacksonville, Orlando, Sarasota and South Florida.

Already the effort is formidable. Organizing for America has opened nine campaign offices across the state, in Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Tampa, Boca Raton, Miami Beach, Miami Gardens and Broward County. It has held nearly 3,000 trainings, planning sessions and phone banks, that have resulted in 580,000 calls to supporters and 4,500 one-on-one meeting with voters.
