Rush Limbaugh always said one of the main functions of the pro-left mainstream media is to make the other side feel like the situation is hopeless and lose heart, thus stay away from the voting booths at the relevant times.

This is exactly what is happening right now re President Trump.

If anyone is feeling that way, watch the video below with Steve Pieczenik. It looks like it's mostly about the current woes of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Granted, it deals with her some and if you look around the news, even on the left, you will see that she is sinking into some deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep doodoo.

Also, Pieczenik can get a little quirky in some of his ideas, especially when he criticizes rival intelligence organizations (CIA and FBI), and even diagnoses Abraham Lincoln as a narcissist :) , so it's easy to dismiss him if that stuff is all you pay attention to.

However, Pieczenik has been involved in the USA toppling the governments of other countries in addition to a lot of military skullduggery, and he was a technical advisor about the military to Tom Clancy and even coauthored bestsellers with him. So there's a deep knowledge side to him. Pieczenik has too many longstanding contacts in the bowels of the military, intelligence community and government, to ignore and it would be foolish to casually dismiss the deep stuff he says because of his quirks.

I believe his diagnosis of the current media howling about Charlottesville, and of President Trump's current situation (where the generals around him are barricading him against the deep state), is spot on--including the impending long-term demise of the Democrats (after infrastructure and tax reform).

Just listening to this video made me feel a serenity that I was losing amidst all the media noise and chaos. Especially the part at the end when he was asked what the Democrats will do and he said, scream. That's what a dying animal does. Scream. And that's about all it can do.

:)

Seriously, if you are feeling down due to the media like Rush says, watch this video. Ignore the quirky stuff, listen to the rest, realize there's a lot of facts and experience there, and you will feel a lot better instantly.

:)

Bannon and Drudge are super friends (Breitbart even got his start at Druge), so this looks like a thing.

Well, it looks like Bannon is out.

The NYT is announcing it, but it hasn't been confirmed yet.

According to the NYT, Bannon leaving is his idea. He submitted his resignation on Aug. 7. This isn't confirmed, either. Another unnamed source. It sounds right, though.

I've been reading around on this and Bannon leaving is not as bad as it might seem to Trump supporters. More details on this as speculations start becoming facts. At least, this explains why Bannon called the enemy to give his scoop.

The main thing is that the anti-Trump folks are going to treat this as if Bannon's chief aim in life was to be a formal adviser to Trump, so now he is disgraced yada yada yada. That isn't his aim, though. It's to change the country away from the progressive direction and toward individualism, capitalism, Judeo-Christian ethic, etc. He will be perfectly happy wherever he can help make that happen. That is one of his main missions in life.

Also, it appears Bannon is returning to Breitbart (to be confirmed, but many are saying it). If he returns, Breitbart will start being interesting again. It was OK without him, but it was turning bland. And I expect President Trump and Steve Bannon to keep in regular telephone communication, General Kelly or no General Kelly.

Anyway, now I understand why there have been so many anti-Trump--or at least slants against Trump--headlines on Drudge these last two weeks. I was wondering what was going on. I want to say I knew something was up, but I only felt something was wrong. I didn't know it. Now I do.

Party on Garth. Party on Bannon. Mix up those allusions.

I know I keep repeating myself, but every other day I will get a letter from Eric Trump or Donald asking me, “How is the President doing?” And then, it adds, “Show your support and donate now.” I don’t know, Eric. Maybe in October 2018 I might contribute. Sorry.

In the mean, (mean, mean) time ignore the lame stream media. They have nothing objective or nice to say about a man who may be (hopefully) accomplishing more than even Ted or Rand Paul could do. “Goodnight, you princes of Maine. You kings of New England.” I still hope to see a coalition of Trump/Pence, Cruz, Paul, Rubio, and Paul Ryan coalesce around ANY important issue. Come on Power Rangers, it’s time to do something.

  • 4 weeks later...

I just saw the Steve Bannon and Charlie Rose interview on 60 Minutes.

It looks like nothing changed when he left the government employment except now he gets to target President Trump's enemies in the press. He certainly didn't need the money.

Bannon claims his relationship with President Trump has not changed and, from what I have read about it, he's right. They talk by phone a lot.

btw - He gave a big shout-out to General Kelly and said he's doing a great job.

My favorite quote was about Hillary Clinton. Bannon said "She's not very bright."

:)

Here are some Breitbart links (with videos at Breitbart). I'll post the video of the full interview as soon as it is available for embedding.

Here is the full interview--before being cut for broadcast.

It's almost like a completely different interview.

What was aired was mainstream media-oriented that dealt mostly with current media narratives and shock value. The complete interview was far more idea-oriented.

It's actually instructive to compare the complete version to the broadcast version. You see clearly how much the media can change the thrust and direction of a message with editing. They cut substance on purpose and replace it with pure hype. This goes beyond ratings because, using their editing techniques, they could easily make the substance exciting if they wanted to. They don't want to.

If anyone wants to understand President Trump's thinking better, this interview will give them some great information. Also, there are some surprising things in this interview, for instance, how much Bannon and Kushner like each other, or how high Rudy Giuliani is held in esteem by both Bannon and the president despite not joining the cabinet, etc.

It's long but worth it. It's so refreshing to see the actual ideas behind what has gone on instead of swatting phony mainstream media talking points all the time.

I think I have an intuitive notion of Trump (and of Palin too).  For the moment liken  the ability to relate to other people both en masse and individually  as a musical  talent.  That is not a bad analogy.  A grasp of music operates at an  intellectual level and at an aesthetic intuitive level*.   Trump might not have perfect pitch  but he has a "good ear"  and if you whistle a few bars  he can fake the rest quite nicely.  Continuing in this manner,  if  Trump has a "good ear"  then Hillary is flat out tone-deaf.  That is her main weakness.  She can never get far enough away from her sticky gluey ego  to resonate with other people.  Hillary can calculate politically and she can "look good"  in a surface shallow fashion but she can never "get in the groove" with the people she talks to and addresses.  That is her weakness and that is why she lost in the way she lost.

*the intuitive level  is the level at which I am least efficient, but I can recognize the levels

I am watching President Trump's UN speech.

Un-frigging believable.

He said the US will destroy North Korean government if they do not do-nuclearize. And he called Kim Jong-un "Rocket Man on a suicide mission"--right there in the speech.

He called the Iran nuclear deal the biggest embarrassment in US history.

He called Assad of Syria evil.

Other stuff against terrorists. He is naming names, too.

I will provide a video as soon as it is available.

This speech will go down in history as one of the greatest a US President has ever made to the UN.

Trump quote from that speech.

Quote

The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented.

From the Soviet Union to Cuba to Venezuela, wherever true socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish and devastation and failure. Those who preach the tenets of these discredited ideologies only contribute to the continued suffering of the people who live under these cruel systems.

Mike,

I love Lou Dobbs. That particular video made me think of Alex Jones of all things.

Alex was recently talking to Roger Stone (about the Manafort wiretapping, the mainstream media with egg on its face, and other issues).

Suddenly, Alex said things are getting weird. He produced a current CNN report that fluoride in drinking water causes brain damage (see here for the CNN report). Alex has been ridiculed to the skies for this kind of issue that he investigates, reports on and rants about. Now CNN is doing it. That's not the only fringe-like report, either, that is going mainstream. (I would have to look it up to get the other issues.)

The point is that suddenly CNN is becoming more fringe-friendly and Alex is suspicious.

One interpretation is that CNN is becoming unglued.

I predict President Trump signs an Obamacare repeal pretty soon.

I keep hearing too many progressives suddenly bitch in a tone that is far, far different than the first round. Even former President Obama says this is "aggravating."

They know they have been outmaneuvered, or at least they are sounding like it.

Let's see what happens, but that is my prediction based solely on progressive canaries...

Hell, they tried to shut down all the coal mines anyway...

Maybe not.

John McCain is a legend in his own time. He's a MAVERICK. He makes HISTORY.

He bucks his side for the GREATER GOOD.

That's the story he tells himself and, from the looks of things, this issue is the MAVERICK's LAST STAND to prove it to himself.

This is the BIG ONE in his mind. People will cuss him today and HISTORY will hold him up as right. The LEGEND goes down shooting as he cries out, "We can do better!"

So he tells himself.

Honestly, with all my study of persuasion, I don't know how to cut through a core story like that in a man so close to the end.

Besides, for a person thirsting for public attention, McCain doesn't have many bullets left in his pistol. Time is running out in his clock.

Hopefully, Roy Moore will be elected in Alabama over the Strange Swamp Creature :) (even though President Trump did come out supporting Strange in a trick play) and this will send shock waves throughout the Senate, both Dem and RINO. Then, it's a good bet  we will get the Obamacare repeal, or we will get it with the new MAGA House and Senate in 2018.

Sen. Rand Paul said he won't be bribed or bullied into signing the repeal. A salute to him!
