It's Flag Day in Puerto Rico

There is at least one American territory where the stand-up-when-the-President-tells-you-to brouhaha is not pertinent, the island of Puerto Rico. 

Apparently, some storm lashed the island and left a bit of a mess. The President is probably demanding flag-obedience before unleashing any aid. 

Speaking of aid, here is a mental aid in the form of visual imagery.

Millions of people in Puerto Rico remain without electricity in the wake of Hurricane Maria, a new image taken by a US government satellite shows.

Outside the capital city San Juan, residents are still isolated without power or communications, and it may take months to restore, officials warn.

Clean water and medicine are also scarce, locals residents report.

The island's governor warned on Monday of a "humanitarian crisis occurring in America", and called for more aid.

"Puerto Rico is part of the United States, and we need to take swift action," Governor Ricardo Rossello told CNN.

"This is a major disaster," he added, calling on the US Congress to produce "something tangible, a bill that actually answers to our need right now".

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he hopes there will be movement "soon" on aid for Puerto Rico and other U.S. regions impacted by recent storms.

“We want the people of Puerto Rico and the islands to know that we are thinking of them and — more importantly — we want them to know that we will continue to work with FEMA, the Department of Defense, and the rest of the administration to help in the recovery," McConnell said in a statement. While Trump has shifted his social media focus to include Puerto Rico at the start of this week, he spent much of the weekend engaged in an online tirade against the NFL. That Trump’s attention was so centered on football players protesting and not on an ongoing humanitarian crisis in a U.S. territory prompted criticism that the White House pushed back against at Monday’s press briefing.

“It really doesn’t take that long to type out 140 characters and this president is very capable of doing more than one thing at a time and more than one thing in a day,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said. “We’ve done unprecedented movement in terms of federal funding to provide for the people of Puerto Rico and others that have been impacted [by] these storms, we’ll continue to do so.”

Do not criticize ... or speak your mind, ungrateful Mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico ...

...  be complimentary (about administration-led disaster response or the happy talk of Elaine Duke ) ... 

... or the President will turn "nasty" himself ...

Say that things are going well, or ...

... become part of the mob ...

It's fey canoes if you find problems in the response to the devastation.

Shame, shame shame.  Pick a fight with the President and his leadership, and you will get what you deserve: Hoopla!
