BaalChatzaf
Craig Venter and his team has actually constructed an artificial, replicating bacterium. I just got through watch the Discovery Science Documentary. Years of work have finally paid off. It took 20 brilliant scientists, their equipment and their their assistants to do the thing. Craig Venter inspired the team and when they heat several dead ends he proposed ways beyond and around the the obstacles. Amazing. What we are witnessing is a brand new field of applied biological science, born in this new century, this new milenium. The potential is fantastic. New cures for diseases, ways of making fuel efficiently from biomass, ways to turning excess CO2 into usable chemicals and who knows what else? I am so happy that a private producer and his team mates have done the deed. All the billions of dollars spent by the government pale into insignificance to the accomplishment of Team Venter. The last time this happened, a pair of bicycle builders made a future for us in the skies and it was all done out of their pocket for a mere $1200 1900 dollars. Samuel Langley and his $50,000 congressional grant failed, and the Wright Brothers succeeded. Once again private initiative has show its promise and power.Ba'al Chatzaf
