Libertarian Muslim
Eternal Promises, BrokenDo you Remember? Before time began, our souls happened to meet..Your presence was amazing and so I turned,Your soul radiated light and my passion burned..It was just us together back then.. You and IThose few brief moments we spent together..We prayed that they'd last forever..More than love at first sight.. It was a love so brightLike the brightest full moon on the darkest of nightsI remember so clearly, as you left,You promised that you'd come back to me...And so I wait.. I've waited so long..And now, I feel empty..60 Seconds in a Minute..60 Minutes in an Hour..24 Hours in a Day..7 Days in a Week..4 Weeks in a Month..12 Months in a Year..25 Years I've been here..For 25 Years I've been incomplete..And so I lay here, broken in defeat..So I still wait.. I wait for you to fulfill your promise..Forgive me now, I have to be honest..I wait for you to serenade your sweet song of love to me..As my head lay in your lap, you resting against an oak tree..Like that old song goes,It's just you and me, just us..We're that ebony and ivory..To engage with me in passionate discussion and debate..Our own little world free from other people's hate..To share your dreams with me and I with you..As we work hard together to make them all come true..For you to sleep in my arms and be there when I wake,I remember clearly it was no mistake..So where are you my love? I now sit and lament..Could it be that you had an event? An engagement or meeting? This waiting is nothing less than defeating..I sit here praying for us to once again meet.. A love like ours, so profound and deep,I can't think about it without my knees growing weak, A love so far reaching and earth shattering that at it's sight, God's angels weepThere could be no greater pain like that which I feel in my heart,In limbo I wait for our lives together to start..So, where are you my love? You promised you'd come.. BaalChatzaf
Sounds sentimental and introspective.By the way, there is nothing eternal about us. We are not, then we are here, then we are gone. Even the Cosmos is temporary. It just lasts a little longer than we do. We are dust in the wind..............................I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's goneAll my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosityDust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind.Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless seaAll we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to seeDust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind[Now] Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and skyIt slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy.Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the windDust in the wind, everything is dust in the wind.Lyrics by KansasThat is closer to it. Eternity is a vain hope. A fancy, a wish.Ba'al Chatzaf

BaalChatzaf
Ba'al, do you ever give it a rest? This is an expression from my heart.. You can't correct expression or poetry..I have Asperger's Syndrome. I correct poetry. I dis sentimentality. Nothing is safe from my literal mind. My Mission From God is to make war on bullshit. I am the little boy from The Emperor and His New Clothes. I am the latter day incarnation of Socrates. God is my Proofreader. Abandon hope not based on fact. anthony
"Sounds sentimental and introspective".C'mon Ba'al: this is a deeply honest piece, IMO, that avoids being maudlin."By the way, there is nothing eternal about us. ... We are just dust in the wind."Very, very true; but not the full truth. (Anyhow, isn't it all grand?) Tony
