I used to regularly follow a writing blog called The Bookshelf Muse of Angela Ackerman.

She was using to blog to compile a list of literary descriptions of emotions and settings. The first grew into a book:

The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer's Guide To Character Expression

It's quite good.

I just looked at the blog and now she is putting together a bunch of other thesaurases:

Physical attributes (for characters)

Character Traits

Weather & Earthly Phenomena

Color, Textures and Shapes

Symbolism

and, of course, Settings is still around.

It's a hoot to go through those things if you are in a daydreaming kind of mind.
