And what gets done by what on a mental basis with that piece of paper? Is there any way to independently witness that?

In other words, how does an intangible self, one that cannot be observed empirically in anybody, determine what is tangibly empirical in Ba'alland? A self cannot be verified by independent witness—only the actions caused by that self on the body when it is alive. Even then, mental processes like evaluation cannot be verified by independent witness.
