BaalChatzaf
Never ever does matter exist in a total self-identifying or self-equal form, for then, no motion change or whatever would arise, the world thought as only in self-equal form is a world without change, without motion, or would be, stated differently, inexistent. The nature of all existent entities is that they are themselves and not themselves at the same time.I object! That is a flat out contradiction. What is true, is that an entity can be something at one time and something else at another time. What you have stated is a form of one of Zeno's Paradoxes, the one about the motion of an arrow. From which Zeno concludes that motion (or change) is illusory.Ba'al Chatzaf
BaalChatzaf
Again, you may think that the law of identity is trivial, but if you look at the history of religion and philosophy, you will find a history rife with examples in which the law of identity is violated. Any miracle demands such a violation.DarrellThe Parting of the Sea of Reeds which enabled to Israelites to escape from Egypt (a Major Miracle) has a readily understood identity. A big wind came up and the water was pushed aside so that people could cross. But there is no natural cause for it which is why it is considered a miracle. Frankly, I think it is a good story. John Dailey
FWIW...~ The HISTORY CHANNEL showed that there may have been a confusion re the names "The Red Sea" and a (relatively) nearby area called, then, "The Sea of Reeds (The Reed Sea?)" --- This 'nearby' area is noted as an anomolistic geographical area where adjacent 'seas' occasionally (seasonally?) met for a while...and just as occasionally... separated (in a notably 'dramatic' way).LLAPJ:DPS: Darryl: Would you specify an acceptable-to-non-Christians source of information regarding the occurrence of what you call a 'miracle' where the Law of Identity is 'violated' (by a 'benevolent', I presume...Universe-Creator)?
