Argerich is fast (as usual), but not very accurate and she uses too much pedal, which creates a muddy sound, especially with the sixteenth notes in the bass line. The Etude should be played with little or no pedal, after all Chopin indicates pedal only for the last 4 bars.

Richter plays even significantly faster than Argerich, but creates a much clearer sound.

A more "normal" tempo, less extreme than Richter, but also a nice, clear interpretation. With Richter and Lisitsa you can clearly hear the continuous switching of the two figurations (staccato chords and continuously running sixteenth notes) between the two hands.
