Here's what happened. Will's wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, suffers from a disease that makes her hair fall out. So she shaved it all off. Chris Rock, who was hosting the Oscars, quipped that he couldn't wait to see her star in G.I. Jane 2. (Demi Moore shaved her head in the original movie.) Will walked up on stage and slapped Chris Rock real hard. It looked to me like a sucker-slap and the hidden nature of the windup make a lot of people think he punched Rock, but it was hard and obvious after the whop. No more hiding it. Chris tried to smooth it over as Will went back to his seat, then Will yelled out at him, "Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!." The audience reacted making crowd noises. Chris tried to play off the comment and Will thundered: "KEEP MY WIFE’S NAME OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!" Sudden silence. So what happened? Nothing, that's what happened. Nada. In fact, shortly thereafter, Will won his first Oscar (best actor in the movie King Richard). In his acceptance speech he apologized to the Academy and to other contestants, but he did not apologize to Chris Rock. Then Will went out to party. Whether it was or not, it set back the woke movement. Now let's see if woke comedians (if you can call them that) start taking bodyguards to their shows. That's a pretty good definition. So why on earth would I watch a program where people who did that for a living gave prizes to themselves. I didn't watch it except for the Will Smith stuff on video later, and I only did that to write about it here. Frankly, I'm not even interested these days.
