Biden pretended to create a commission to study changing the Supreme Court and within a matter of days, they proposed stacking the Supreme Court adding four Justices to ensure the Court will be WOKE.

Facing Vladimir Putin, America's second most eminent adversary, President Joe Biden is fashionably presented as some kind of ordained savior. Biden, the casual thinking goes, is the antidote to President Donald Trump's Russian appeasement policy. There is little factual basis for this understanding. He might call Putin a killer, then a couple of weeks later call up Putin to ask for a summit, but Biden is weak on Russia. So far, at least. Let's start out at sea.

Washington recently gave Turkey, which supervises the Turkish straits, notice that two U.S. Navy destroyers would enter the Black Sea this week. These deployments were a semi-regular fixture under the Trump administration (alongside even more direct naval challenges to Russia), designed to show support for Ukraine as it grapples with continuing Russian aggression. But as Politico reported on Thursday, the latest navy deployment has been canceled. This is because, as one Biden administration official tells the news outlet, "Naval movements are frequently subject to change due to maintenance or shifting operational plans. ... This particular transit was scrapped due to a 'myriad' of reasons, including a desire not to provoke Moscow during a delicate time, the person said." Give me a break.

There are no "myriad" of reasons for this abrupt course change, there is just one reason. Namely, that Biden fears an escalation curve that Putin will control. This is the same mistake the Obama administration made again, again, and again with Putin. The ex-KGB man pretends to be capable of anything and then has his senior staff make a few phone calls which he knows the U.S. National Security Agency will intercept. In those calls, the staff warn that Putin's anger is getting the better of him etc. and that he might do anything etc. The intent is to scare Washington into conciliation. Biden is playing the game well. He even asked Putin for a summit in a phone call this week! And when, on Thursday, Biden introduced limited new sanctions against the Kremlin, he was quick to qualify his actions. "Now is the time to de-escalate," the president said, "the way forward is through thoughtful dialogue and diplomatic process." This overt hesitation is not a very clever tactic for negotiating with the Russians. Putin finds rhetoric very cheap. The weakness abides.

Fox News: Biden, Harris slam systematic racism in America.

I agree with that, and I agree with objectivists that volition can be a greater factor in life than physicality.

But the Sciences of Medicine, Anthropology and Evolutionary Psychology stress that there are significant differences in racial heredity that matter and not just physical looks. Innate norms, and capacities for talent and intelligence exist within races, as do propensities for greater emotionalism and violence in personal life which is tied to not just a person’s ethnicity or neighborhood.

That is not racism.  However, it is profiling skills, which are needed in certain professions like for social workers, airport screeners, and policemen. It may sound frivolous, but a car salesman might successfully profile an individual car-sale based on race, ethnicity, body language and home location. And more importantly, if lives are on the line, you need to use all your knowledge to successfully end an encounter.

I disagree on a point, the one about systemic racism that you said you agree with.

Frankly, I no longer see systemic racism coming from places like the Deep South.

However, I do see systemic racism in the very existence of BLM (just look at their name and what they do), critical race theory, the 1619 Project, exclusion of whites in certain institutions and operations where race is not a factor to their operation, even the current persecution of Asians by other minorities, etc. 

In other words, I see the left trying to institute systemic racism at the moment, not fight it.

What is one of the worst things Biden could do? “Well, under Joe's Presidency, $650 billion is going down the drain. Biden also placed a moratorium on new oil and gas leases on federal land, although the immediate impact would be limited. In 2019, oil from federal land amounted to about 22% of the nation’s total production, and natural gas accounted for about 11%. He gave regulators until July 2021 to set new, more aggressive fuel efficiency standards.

Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure proposal includes about $650 billion aimed at curtailing climate change. He would spend over $200 billion to build and retrofit affordable housing for energy efficiency. There would be about $175 billion to shift the nation to electric vehicles, and another $100 billion to upgrade the country’s electric grid. Bob Perciasepe, head of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, a Washington policy group, said Biden’s moves are bold, especially on greenhouse gas reduction. But he added that Congress remains an obstacle. Biden faces critics on both the right and the left. Republicans accuse him of killing jobs to save the planet. More liberal Democrats have said he isn’t pushing far enough. "He will have to sustain momentum and work with Congress to transform it to durable legislation if we’re to meet the ambitious 2030 targets."

It is now a basically a slowly but surely socialized economic system that we have.”

I have a friend on Facebook, novel-writer and former Randian, Michael Prescott, who posted this picture and wrote the following (see here). It's like he took the words right out of my mouth, except he said it better.

Also, there’s just something creepy and freaky about this image. It looks like something out of a David Lynch movie.

Americans acclimated to persistently low inflation may be in for a shock in the months to come. Prices are already shooting up. Corn prices are up around 50 percent this year. Lumber prices are nearly four times what is considered typical. Copper hit a new record on Friday. Soybeans are at their highest level since 2012. Oil is at its highest since 2018. Gasoline prices are near multiyear highs.

On Wednesday, the Department of Labor will issue its monthly report on the Consumer Price Index. Economists expect prices to rise a mild two-tenths from the month prior, a slowdown compared with the six-tenths in March. Core prices, which exclude food and energy, are expected to see a steeper 0.3 percent gain, matching March's higher than expected figure. But it's the year-over-year figures that may startle. Economists expect CPI to jump 3.6 percent compared to last year, the most since 2014. That reflects the fact that the year-ago numbers were distorted by the initial "flatten the curve" phase of lockdowns, which severely depressed demand for everything except toilet paper, sanitizer, and yeast to home-bake bread.

Fed officials and most investors think the bout of inflation will be short-lived. Not everyone is convinced. The heightened prices of so many raw goods could push up prices at the retail level for months to come, especially if shortages are not quickly resolved. In a Bloomberg op-ed on Monday, former New York Fed President William Dudley argued that the market is underestimating how high the Fed might have to push interest rates to tamp down inflation once it gets going. A sustained three percent inflation rate could require a Fed target of 4.5 percent, Dudley warns. Nothing like that is currently priced in the bond market, implying that investors would suffer a serious blow if that were to come to pass.

Speaking of shortages, President Joe Biden once again weighed in on the subject of whether unemployment insurance is a factor in the difficulties business leaders say they are having finding workers. The Biden administration last week tried to make the case that high levels of benefits were not adding to the reported labor shortage, pointing to covid fears and childcare needs as the likely culprit. But apparently, the White House senses that this message had few takers, which is why the president returned to it again Monday. This time around President Biden said jobless benefits couldn't be keeping people out of work because anyone turning down a job would lose the benefits—something that simply hasn't been true in most states throughout the pandemic period.
