Looking to Ninth for updates closer to November.

There is arguably the makings of a 'machine' campaign on the Democratic side. From what I have been able to gather so far, Gillum does retail politics well, along with socialism. He first won elective office when he was twenty-three, allowing him to boast of fifteen years of "public service." He just proved that a 'ground campaign' can topple big-spenders if not favourites.

Maybe he gets to be an adjoining darling economic dingbat to the lady with big eyes and teeth the better to eat you with.

Though Gillum may be destined to be creamed, if not schlonged, crushed, decimated, blown away, or electorally-slaughtered, he will I think ride on a coalition of interests, with a machine for GOTV, with a party and ancillary PACs getting their thang on. Meaning the whole panoply of "symbolic race" attention, hoopla and funds will be pushing one outcome. Should it ultimately fail November 6, I still think it could be interesting, if only for the level of national Grand Hoopla attending from here till then.  I mean, how many splendidly awful stories are going to be churned out? It is kinda like my question about how much shelf-life an 'issue' will have.

If the Democratic side thinks it will profit to pin a racial-insensitivity tail on the Republican donkey, DeSantis, we'll be hearing more. If it gives advantage and polls well, I expect a whisper-campaign style misinformation strategy to simmer away.

Speaking of All Polls Are Wrong, there is even -- surprise surprise -- a poll out today showing Gillum besting DeSantis by five points.

William,

What are you talking about? I was talking about Gillum. [...]

I don't understand "which opponent," "shelf-life" and so on within this context.

So I don't know what you are getting at.

I answered my own questions in the bracketed material I added above. Your post was vague on details: "The fake news media thinks it is helping Gillum by taking an out-of-context quote to "prove" the racism of his opponent."

Since I don't watch Hollywood CNN Squares Pinball Outrage as much as I could, I missed the details.  So, I did minor homework and identified the people, the quote, the context, and added a line of my appraisal.

"Which Gillum opponent"?  GOP primary winner DeSantis. "Shelf-life"?  Of the issue, the hoopla, the fauxtrage over the DeSantis's remarks quoted in context above. In other words, in other words, ie, "How long will Hoopla over DeSantis "don't monkey with a good thing" occupy the Faked News cohort?"

[Added: I should note the tail-pinning misinformation effect is kicking in on another valence:  the notion is DeSantis was a moderator for a dicey racially-insensitive-at-times Facebook page. The kicker that is not generally included is that he was one of fifty or so Page Patrollers, but that is Fake News Broadcasting Company and its assistant faked social inauthentic media amplifiers for you ... O homem soltou um suspiro pesado.]

Five is not six; kicker; forty is not fifty; fifteen years was not correct. Double-fact-check; eyes & teeth, teeth & eyes?

He didn't win by much, and it was a five way race.  I think he's going to lose, and he's going to take Bill Nelson (Senator) down with him.

I got some lulz (and you may too) from this interview:

Did he just call for a new Confederacy?

"'Medicare for all.' Revolutionary socialism since 1945."

My mental imagery of Florida is forever ruined by John D MacDonald tales of corruption and criminality. It seems a vividly proud, restless, striving, changing place, with a dynamism of its own, fed perhaps by its in-migrating streams. Snowbirds in Florida would probably be among the least dynamic next to Forest Lawn.

I think from the video above that Gillum was happy to have been "poked by the bear" -- as this is his chance to nationalize the campaign in terms of free Hoopla. Otherwise, Cuomo always makes me wonder why he doesn't have a Shouty Italian New Yorkers week, with everybody from Scaramucci to Bongino to Giuliani with bulging veins and lunging about and all.

Gillum just seems so bland as a socialist hellhound candidate to these old Canadian eyes (viz Jagmeet Singh). His ambition does glint through here and there.

I'd rather see an "exciting" race here than a thumping.  Though thumpings are also fun and instructive.

Bill Nelson is the three-hundred year old living corpse with no eyes? Yeah, lotsa charisma there. He looks to me like he has "served" since 1843.

"Informed by", not "ruined".  Alright, it's not really as bad as that.  For an update you might check out the TV show Burn Notice, its plots were often McGee-esque.  I used to see them filming it in my neighborhood.  I wouldn't be surprised if I had a cameo walk-by role in some episode or other.

Time will tell, my prediction is pretty premature.  On the plus side, note that Gillum was polling lower going into election day than Gary Johnson is polling now.  Yeah, 5 way race vs. 3 way race, I know.

Yes, right out of the playbook, the non-sequitur segue.

I believe the next step is dependent on whether I react with an apology or a double-down.  In the case of apology:

But I forget, what comes after a double-down?

I'm wondering if it's cultural appropriation, or some kind of trans-species offense to post this:

Meanwhile, I'll Huff and I'll Puff reports:

Quote

In the automated phone calls, someone speaking in an exaggerated dialect pretends to be Gillum, Florida's first African-American nominee for governor, as drums and jungle noises can be heard in the background. A spokesman for DeSantis on Friday denounced the robocalls, calling them "absolutely appalling and disgusting."

But two days earlier, DeSantis, who is white, faced backlash himself over his apparently racist remarks about Gillum.

"The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state," DeSantis told Fox News on Wednesday.

Stephen Lawson, communications director for DeSantis' campaign, said that the comments were about the economy. "To characterize it as anything else is absurd," he said in a statement Wednesday.

Gillum hasn't said whether he believes DeSantis is "a racist," but during an appearance earlier Sunday on NBC's "Meet The Press," he called on his opponent to "tone down" his rhetoric.

"I think what's important is that Mr. DeSantis and obviously the president really try to go high on this thing," Gillum told NBC. "We cannot afford to weaponize race and to go to the bottom of the barrel here. ... I'm pleased to see them decry those robocalls, but it's also important that Ron DeSantis take control and ownership of his own rhetoric and words."

Socialist Leaders Clarify: ‘We Only Want Socialism For Everyone Else’

U.S.—Many people seem confused by socialist leaders, who are often well-off, amassing wealth and luxuries for themselves while complaining about the excesses of capitalism, but those socialists have clarified that they never intended socialism for themselves, just for everyone else.

“I’m doing pretty well for myself and don’t need socialism,” Bernie Sanders, who is a member of the one percent and owns multiple houses, explained. “Other people aren’t doing so well, and we should redistribute their wealth amongst each other, but I’m fine as I am.”

To Ocasio-Cortez, climate "science deniers" have been cast in pretty much the same role that her fellow socialist Hilter cast the Jews. Scapegoats who need punishments. The "deniers" are the cause of all of our woes. They're evil, they're an existential threat, and they must be eliminated. Final Solution time. We're the heroes, saving humanity. They're the villains, and our extermination of them will therefore be virtuous. Not to mention fun! We're going to get to do some mass killing that we've morally justified. It's going to be so bloody and exciting. We'll show those fuckers.

Gillum lost, and so did Nelson.  Though it was pretty close in both cases.

The Dingbat has started out right.

Donald Trump Jr. recently posted the following meme on Instagram:

12.08.2018-06.49.png

What does The Dingbat do?

She threatens him with a subpoena!

Over a meme about socialism and dogs!

:)

Seriously.

:)  :)  :)

But wait!

There's more!

It looks like the threat caused a shitstorm, so The Dingbat sighed, tried to look nonchalant and bored (while frantically trying to put out backstage shitstorm fires and cover her ass for committing another faux pas--the gossip is that she is headed for an ethics complaint before even being sworn in :) ) and took on the burden of instructing the general public in civics.

:)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

The way this lady is going, the upcoming nonstop mangling of her tenure is going to be fun to watch.

Even the anti-Trump media is laughing at her.

I almost feel like the anti-Trumpers did in the early stages of the primaries when they were laughing at him and calling him comical names, that is before he started kicking everyone's ass in the elections. Sadly, I don't see a turnaround like that for The Dingbat.

:)

Michael
