A Lecture on the difficulties associates with Climate Sensitivity Models

Recommended Posts

This is a very recent lecture (two weeks ago at the time of this posting).  It deals with the major difficulty in producing good climate sensitivity models.

This lecture sponsored by the Perimeter Institute  is totally devoid of ideology and cant  and  is totally about the scientific, mathematical and computational difficulties in understanding earth climate.  It all comes down to clouds and an accurate solution to the Navier-Stokes equations (still unresolved at this moment).  There is a current prize of one million dollars to anyone who comes up with a workable  numerical approximation to the Navier-Stokes equations of flow .  The equations are perfect, but they elude numerical approximation even with out best computers.  The lecturer proposes what may be a workable solution to this problem.  What a joy it is to hear a talk totally devoid of political and ideological bullshit.  It is all about the math and science.  Nothing else.
