Brant Gaede
In 1960 I read Botvinnik's On Openings. Neither my brother nor I have a brain for chess, but because I had read Botvinnik he couldn't beat me. Our last game he threw up the chessboard. Who opens P to Q or KR4? I flat out told him it was a mistake and to take it back, but he refused. Sibling rivalry and conflict; we were always butting up against each other. That was the year I went east and he stayed west, much more to his benefit than mine. --Brant
