Penn Jillette claims Trump said 'racially insensitive' comments during 'Celebrity Apprentice'

The above is a surprisingly neutral headline. Non-Fake News!!! Other "news" sources weren't so good. They lied, and made claims in their headlines that the interview doesn't support.

J

Jonathan,

Penn Jillette just gave one of the greatest CYA quotes of the year--right after saying he witnessed Trump saying racially insensitive things (he was "in the room," remember? :) ):

Quote

"If Donald Trump had not become president, I would tell you all the stories. But the stakes are now high and I am an unreliable narrator," he said. "What I do, as much as anything, is I'm a storyteller. And storytellers are liars. So I can emotionally tell you things that happened racially, sexually, and that showed stupidity and lack of compassion when I was in the room with Donald Trump and I guarantee you that I will get details wrong."

Let's see if I can get it all down:

Penn Jillette says

1. He would tell all the stories, but Trump became President.
2. The stakes are high (implying his is afraid of punishment).
3. He is an unreliable narrator.
4. He is a storyteller.
5. Storytellers are liars (so, you, reader, complete the syllogism: therefore he is a liar :) ).
6. He can tell the stories "emotionally," though.
7. He guarantees he will get the details wrong.

Talk about a non-quote quote.

:)

This sounds an awful lot like PJ dumping on the press to see if they will print this as proof Trump said the N-word.

And the thing is, the press is doing exactly that.

:)

I agree that it's as much a criticism of the press, and the panic/rage/lynch culture in general, as it is of Trump.

Yeah, he keeps it very measured; the headline is clickbait.

Meanwhile, I just came across this.  It was uploaded in February, long ago in news-cycle terms.  It really blows Omarosa's credibility to hell.  On any topic.  Including taped conversations.  And again, the headline doesn't do justice to the contents.

Good for Trump for cancelling his military parade. No matter what the cost, it would have been an unnecessary cost.

Now if he could just be persuaded of the same thing about the Wall....

At risk of being called a racist yet again by Multicultural Specialist Jonathan, I have alwayst hought Omarosa a total phoney from since first seeing her on the Apprentice (did she win that season? I can't remember).Maybe Trump had a fellow feeling for her as the narcissistic opportunist she is, which is why he hired her into the White House, who knows-- but I'm sure she doesn't know anything about him that isn't already common knowledge. I kind of hope her book tanks, but can't realistically think it will.

Trump should just ignore her now ,as her unimportance  calls for.

Carol,

It will splash, then it will tank. Like Fire and Fury by that knucklehead did. (Sorry, can't remember his name and don't want to waste effort on it.)

Omarosa is playing true to her Apprentice archetype, though. She was one of the two-faced backstabbing villains.

It's like a professional wrestling archetype.

Did you catch Omarosa on Celebrity Big Brother?  She was entertaining.

Deanna,

No. I missed that.

But she still is entertaining, that is, for this go-around, in a trainwreck kind of way.

Want some popcorn?

My favorite moment from that season of Big Brother... “I’m wearing that bitch’s shoes.”

I’ll go back to lurking now.

Shoe taunts are just the best. I have never watched BB, but the variety of my kid's soccer coaches were worthy of their own reality show, before there were reality shows. Most of them were European guys once  removed or not,, One of our favourites was Flavio, whose gameday strategy was to mock his opposing coaches' couture.

"My shoes cost more than your whole outfit"! He sneered to his opposite number, an amiable soccer dad dressed in a tracksuit. And of course, they  had.

Now that the Hardy Boys have partially solved The Mystery of Hillary's Felonies, we can return to taking heed of the leading communicator in America. Trump tweets.

-- how often does a sitting president comment on a criminal trial as a jury deliberates its verdicts?  Yesterday the President suggested that Paul Manafort was getting the shaft by the prosecution.  Luckily,  jurors were instructed not to discuss, watch listen to, or read any materials on the case besides their own notes and memories, according to various sources. But, see the spin BS sick behaviour from MSNBC, CNN and CrookedMedia

Compared to you, I probably am a Multicultural Specialist. I'd bet on it.

Youre a liberal/progressive, which basically means that you really don't do much of anything except have opinions and demand that others do what you want, and then you attempt to take moral credit. You begin with the attitude of your own moral superiority -- your status of having acquired the most "humanness" and "humanity" -- and just assume that your pose is enough to convince.

It's bluff. Bullshit. You don't do shit. You're not involved in anything, you don't interact with or care about any of the people that you use as weapons to try to control others. You don't give of your own time or money. You're all mouth. All talk, no walk.

I am involved. I do give of myself. I interact with real, actual people, including refugees. Reality, not just abstract opinions from a distance. I don't demand that others do what I don't. I don't take credit for merely opining and voting what others should be forced to do.

Try a different tack, Carol. Maybe one not based in your hatred, dishonesty, and moral poses.

It is odd to me, that after the 10 plus years I have been on this site, when I thought I ha read most of your posts because I usually found them interesting. Obviously you read none of mine, know nothing of my work, my best friends, my neighbours or my knowledge about living every day with those who do not look like me and I sure hope, not like you.

Oh, I know that you're the queen of humanity and humanness. I'm very familiar with your posturing and looking down your nose, and then of your being surprised, insulted, or even hurt at the insolence of those lesser beings, who you had thought accepted the fact of your morallly superior stature, don't recognize your self-coronation and your judgments of them.

It's been very educational studying how intensely you hate having your own methods and tactics applied to you.

Now that another day has dawned, a quick review of thrilling new Presidential tweets.

Make sure you do not read the Enemy of the People (in this case Michael Schmidt and Maggie Haberman): White House Counsel, Don McGahn, Has Cooperated Extensively in Mueller Inquiry

Wow, leaky, leaky!

Heh, yeah, when multiple sources are providing such detailed information, and the story isn't what a leaky organization it is, why, yes, it would be ridiculous to suspect that any of it might be fake, and might possibly be a tactic of Mueller's team using compliant members of the press. Yeah, they wouldn't do anything like that. Leaks just happen. Pay no attention to that aspect of the story.

William,

Why?

Too late, though. I already read it yesterday. McGahn is probably laughing his ass off since, throughout most of the article, it looks like a hit piece on him (he's portrayed as a confused coward and disloyal).

Your comment sounds like pouting, though...

:)

President Trump is slipping through the fingers of your dreams. He's slipping, William, and there is nothing you can do about it. Slipping, slipping, slipping. :) Get ready to feel like you did when he got elected. It looks like this entire investigation house of cards is going to be gone with the wind before too long. (How's that for trite cliché stacking? :)

But I understand the feeling that makes you pout. Losing when your faith gives you absolute certainty of the opposite is a bitch. When that happens, it's the human condition to blame everything but the facts staring you right in the face and your refusal to see them. (btw - That's part of the root of religious wars.) So you throw pebbles at the winners and tell yourself they are too stupid to read.

But let me look to be sure.

Yup.

Man, is President Trump winning.

God, that must hurt.

And me?

Let me check.

Nope.

I'm not tired or winning yet.

  :)

Nnnnnot winning as much as he would like to take credit for.

Jules,

Come on. Really?

Well, believe what you will. I'm not putting my money in Turner Investments...

Canada isn't winning, that's for sure.

Hell, even Mexico is starting to win. The leftie President elect down there, Obrador, actually cares about his people and not so much about allowing the crony elitists to abuse them. For some reason, he thinks it is a good idea to negotiate with President Trump and not turn around play school-boy games at entertaining the elitists.

To me, he's a leftie for the right reasons and, although, I disagree with his ideology, he seems sincere in wanting to do good business for everyone, not just insiders...

I wonder how he stands up against Trudeau, for example...

  :)

Well on the bright side we get to kick turdeau to the curb in next September’s federal election thank fuck.

As for Turner investments, they have a very very good track record.  Your loss.
