"Results of Fasting - Healing Chronic Headaches"

Patton wanted to find out how the troops functioned under such duress. He gave it up, of course.

I'd think a true water fast would require severely limiting protein intake to take stress off the kidneys

You are confused. A 'fast' means you live on air and water and sleep and maybe sunshine and nothing else. No food. In modern time it has become fashionable to speak of 'water fast' and 'juice fast'. What these terms really mean is 'water diet' and 'juice diet'.

There is no such thing as you don't consume water, either as water or high water content food.

Don't forget to take a potassium supplement.

fasts are for masochists?

Fasting does not require potassium.

When a sick animal fasts, the reason is that it feels better fasting than eating.

Isn't that what happens to heroin and methamphetamine addicts?

Water fasts strike me as dangerous. What are they suppose to accomplish? Food fasting needs potassium supplementation so you don't risk a heart attack.

Dangerous:

Fasting means living on air and water and sleep and no food. It can be dangerous. So what? Many things can be dangerous: cars, guns, knives, fire, electricity. Nobody ever yet got out of this world alive.

For some people not fasting is more dangerous than fasting.

Dr. Alan Goldhamer conducted 8,000 fasts most from 5 days to 40 days, not one fatality.

Accomplish:

For most people fasting probably would accomplish nothing.

At the top of this thread is a video of a woman who had a 16 year headache. 16 years nonstop. The first 18 days of the fast nothing happened. The 19th day she was headache free for 5 minutes. Each day after that it got better until day 41, no headache the whole day.

Potassium:

Doctors who conduct fasts don't give their fasting patients potassium and their patients don't get heart attacks.

If heart attacks aren't a problem for fasting then certain severe diets resulting in some ingested nutrients depleting potassium in the body may be a problem.

Some people like myself may confuse fasting with some kinds of dieting or mere caloric reduction.
