Long Island still in the dark

Recommended Posts

As of yesterday Nov 13, there were 60,000 customers still without power. Yesterday was fifteen days after Sandy hit the area. Zounds! Said I. A power company worse than Jersey Central Power and Light. How is that possible?

Well folks the power utility for the portion of Long Island not in New York Cit is serviced by LIPA, Long Island Power Authority. Yes. It is a government run electric utility! Now ask yourself this. What will happen to medical care when the government takes over? Apparently the government built poor dikes (look what happened to New Orleans) and it can't fix downed power lines very well. Just pray the government does not take over the function of producing and distributing food to the population.

When will the socialist leaning people actually re-evaluate their beliefs, though? How much will it take for them to think, "Wait, maybe I'm wrong."

It usually takes real consequences before people change their minds; but in this case, what will the consequences have to be?
