  1. "...(their) test missiles were frequently shot down by alien spacecraft." That's a "dog ate my homework" story if I ever saw one. Sheesh. Nevermind.
  2. Facts? We don't need no stinkin' facts... [What about all the rest?] [sheep and jackasses have been slandered here]
  3. Marcus, you obviously get angry if someone argues with you. I thought your initial post was an obvious rehash of pretty much what any objectivist and Ayn Rand believes. Nothing new. But it didn't address what Mark said in your quote of him. I don't think the rubber's meeting the road here. You say: "You can distinguish groups that share similar values and beliefs and hence, criticize them. That does not mean she hated them but did want to make a point." Not much different from Mark's intended point I think. You're just trying to pick fights.
  4. Just in case you thought Hillary might be indicted,... [schmoozing with Obama-Billy; birds of a feather...]
  5. Protected by the Obama admin and justice dept. These people all have dirt on each other and cover for fear they'll all go down...(hope, hope).
  6. Peter, Donald has a family to support, he's not going to give up easily... Re: implants The ads sure make them look good.
  7. The problem of freedom of association and strangers is how to pick the ones least likely to kill you. It takes many years to know a person, neighbor is actually a pretty intimate relationship, lots of guessing going on. Neighbor times ten? Neighbor times hundred? Lots of guessing going on in a neighborhood, even a small one, even if most if not all are from the same culture. I moved to Oakland some years ago (from a suburb 20 miles out) to follow a job. I moved back to the other side of the hill after having enough of my car and home being broken into. I am not a racist, simply trying to lower the attrition rate of my stuff. I rented in Concord for a few years. The old guy across the street never talked to me, always looked mad. One day I spent several hours weeding my front lawn (in a rental!). He came across the street and chatted for a half hour. I did something he appreciated and could relate to. His yard was immaculate. I know, nothing to do with objectivist philosophy.
  8. Top 10 modern architecture marvels in BeijingTrump is not a Howard Roark. He uses the government to get people out of his way, not people to get government out of his way. His connections and payoffs allow him to get away with it. "Trump has repeatedly relied on governments’ using their power of eminent domain to seize private property and turn it over to him for development. As he put it in a 2005 interview with Neil Cavuto, “If you have a person living in an area that’s not even necessarily a good area, and government, whether it’s local or whatever, government wants to build a tremendous economic development, where a lot of people are going to be put to work and make [that] area that’s not good into a good area, and move the person that’s living there into a better place — now, I know it might not be their choice — but move the person to a better place and yet create thousands upon thousands of jobs and beautification and lots of other things, I think it happens to be good.” So much for property rights and personal choice." Same source 'Republicans and Crony Capitalism'. Do you dispute the facts in this article?
  9. "I don't think Donald Trump has a core set of beliefs other than Trumpism.": Is Trump a Supply Sider? (3:50) "And, of course, Donald Trump’s entire career personifies crony capitalism.": Republicans and Crony Capitalism Same article: "And he regularly “partners” with local governments to receive special tax deals or other subsidies for his business projects. Taxpayers have had to pony up hundreds of millions of dollars to help make Trump rich."
  10. The prez wants to play too: spotify #1: "Ain't too proud to beg"
  11. Adam: "And of course an irrational person is scarier than a rational one, because you know self-preservation plays less of a role in their decision making--so it's not really about bluffing, but threatening to possibly do something stupid." should be attributed to 'Dglgmut' rather than Jonathan.
  12. I found this: CV and a linkedin account I checked the faculty at China Europe International Business School, Shanghai, and he is not listed. Impressive resume. The linkedin account is Bill's, the personal website is the same as on his OL personal page. The website is not active. I found this after reading Brant's update: ...which is redundant after MSK's fix of Brant's link...
  13. Agreed. Claptrap. Stories with no context, intellectual name dropping, completely unbalanced and all over the place. Pure smear. I trust Carly, I don't know her, I've heard of her for years working in high tech in the bay area. I listen to her talk and nowhere have I felt she was insincere or misleading. I think she says what she believes. I've been donating to her campaign for a little over three months now.
  14. Your God is nonsense. You are insane.
  15. Mikee, there is no "separation of church and state" in the United States Constitution. You are correct. However: "In Everson v. Board of Education (1947), Justice Hugo Black wrote: "In the words of Thomas Jefferson, the clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect a wall of separation between church and state."[2]"
  16. These are your own words, Mike : Would you like to clarify what you wrote? (shrug) It'll be impossible to find where I have ever said that God is the universe because I've never believed that. Greg "The further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge." -Einstein What you call "God" I call everything that is. Pantheism is the belief in many ill defined "gods", it is ancient superstitious primitive belief. You assign that to me as an insult. You insult yourself with these childish bad mannered efforts at being clever. No, it's not all about entertainment, it's about understanding.
  17. Greg, There is zero information content in any one of your replies or they are simply untrue. Your definition of cynical describes you perfectly. Defining me as a pantheist is laughable. "I don't equate God with the universe." This directly contradicts an earlier post of yours, which I am unable to find. One or the other is a falsehood either known by you or you don't know your own mind. I can only conclude you do not argue honestly and in good will or a desire to learn anything from anyone else but are a con man here simply to entertain yourself. I regret that the initial red flag you raised in my mind about you is appearing more and more to be true. You learned from a master. But you waste your time. Unfortunately you are wasting the time of a number of well meaning people. Hopefully there's enough entertainment to go around.
  18. Well, we each hold a different view of that, Mike... and that's ok by me because we each have different life experiences. Old true sayings: "The easiest man to con is a con man." "You can't cheat an honest man." In my view, only people who con others can be conned... just as they rightfully deserve. Greg Another truth "first you suffer, then you die". Just as true. Just as cynical. Is it necessary to hate people in order to love God? God = Nature /= Christianity. What happened to a benevolent universe? Human beings with a God given (universe given) human nature? Does adding Objectivism to your Christianity mean you can throw out humility? Is that the appeal?
  19. This idiot should be fired and barred from working for any government agency in the interests of separation of church and state.
  20. I suppose no matter what happens in Sept you will rationalize it as fulfilling prophesy. i.e.: dow drops 500 pts (instead of 5000), huge forest fire in Wyoming, 6.5 earthquake in Oklahoma, plane crashes somewhere...etc. "critical mass of immoral people": Millions of people being conned by Marxist criminals does not make them immoral. Just dupes. A large number of people have been predicting a crash for some time now, for rational reasons, nothing to do with "prophesy".
