Davis's alleged definition is way off. Firstly, Wikipedia's definition is restricted to the ownership of the means of production. So it does not include all property including personal property such as one's house, car, and clothes. Secondly, Wikipedia's definition encompasses control without ownership. Bernie Sanders is about as socialist as one can get. He even describes himself as a "democratic socialist" and relentlessly advocates more government control of business.
