Books on Intellectual History

I've recently started reading some books in the Oneworld Thinkers series. These are introductory works on important thinkers. I've read Ed Feser on Locke and Harold Noonan on Hume. The length is about 200 pages each, so they are a bit more detailed than Oxford Past Masters (now part of the "Concise Introduction" series) or Wadsworth's series, but still manageable.

I would be interested in knowing what books or series that others have found useful in studying intellectual history.

Since this thread has generated so much interest, I'll start with one:

Daniel Robinson, An Intellectual History of Psychology, which is a fascinating account of the subject as well as a good review of the history of epistemology.

Neil,

My introductory works on intellectuals came from Ayn Rand. That had some benefits and some serious drawbacks. I have been trying to keep the simplifications and get rid of the oversimplifications—and that's not as simple as it seems.

Nowadays, the Internet and prompting from forum life is opening up lots of new horizons to me. For example, I don't think I would have read anything by Popper or Dennett by now without these resources (I actually only saw a lecture by Dennett so far, but I have read some Popper, and I have read about these two). I have been exposed to the ideas of many intellectuals like that.

The Story of Philosophy is excellent, by Will Durant.
