In my post on OL about Ira Levin's recent death I refereed to Boys From Brazil as far-fetched.

First I want to say that Boys is a good movie. It has some great acting including the saintly Gregory Peck as one of the worst villains ever done on film. The actor John Dehner has a brief role as one of the fathers that is as fine a piece of acting I have ever seen. Olivier is quite good. The young actor who plays the Hitler clones is very good.

The science is wrong. Cloning has not even been perfected even today While the plot does have failures and missteps, I suspect more would have occurred.

Let me finally say that if I saw Boys was going to on television I would watch it.

AFI has done a list of great heroes and villains in the movies which Gregory Peck won for the role of Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. I think Peck's role of Mengele in Boys is the best villain. AFI did not agree.
