Diane Rubio
Folks,Hi, I am Diane, avid fan of Rand.A while ago I saw the movie The Dreamers and immediately took a liking to actress Eva Green. This is her debut film. Everything about her reminded me of Ayn Rand. I've never seen Ayn Rand actually, just read her novels, her characters, and saw some pictures of Ayn Rand and thought: this is Ayn Rand as a young woman.Wouldn't you think the same? Now, Eva Green is my favorite actress of all time. She illustrates the precision, beauty, cut lines, purpose of the heroes in Ayn Rands fiction. I think Eva Green is the savior of humanity!Long live Eva Green. (Wouldn't she make a perfect Dominique Francon or Dagny Taggart?)- Diane
Michael Stuart Kelly
Diane,Let me offer you a very warm welcome to OL. What a charming presence.Welcome and welcome.I am intrigued by what I saw on Googling your name. Ukulele and cello? Dayaamm!I saw you played One Note Samba by Jobim, but I was curious as to why you didn't put up any chorinho (at least Tico-tico no Fubá or Brasileirinho). That's the real Brazilian music for the cavacinho (Brazil's answer to the ukulele, as I am sure you know).I haven't seen the film you mentioned, The Dreamers. I did look and see it was by Bertolucci (who is a Buddist, if I am not mistaken). What I read about the film, it was erotic-heavy. Eva Green also was the Bond girl for Casino Royale. She certainly is beautiful so I can see your enthusiasm. Please make yourself at home here on OL. What Rand books have you read?Michael

Diane Rubio
I have a lot of respect for Ayn Rand, her thoughts regarding Art, the Romantic era (I read Romantic Manifesto). I have read ALL of Rand's fiction, and some of the compiled essays (The Virtue of Selfishness). In addition, I've read some of Nathaniel Branden and Leonard Piekoff's writing .. to be frank, I enjoy Rand more than these mentioned.Tico Tico no fuba on cavaquinho? My next challenge. Hah.Yes, I play many instruments. My musical focus now is playing electric cello in a hip hop band called Tempo Valley. http://myspace.com/tempovalley or http://myspace.com/dianerubio . Most of the members in the band are 'buddhist' ....As I've aged, I've come to ... relax about ideologies ... I like to focus on recognizing the truths and virtues in every aspect of humanity / religion (if any) ... many times people will hold professed values (blatantly irrational ones), but actually subconsciously hold different ones - what actually works for existence / survival. Rand talks about this a lot - consciously and subconsciously held values. ---Re: Eva Green. I think what is the most remarkable similarity are the eyes. Rand has crazy huge eyes! I saw in a video documentary.Re: The Dreamers. It doesn't really matter that the Buddhist produced the movie, or that it was erotic heavy - just the way Eva Green acts - chooses to create what it is. It's very much in the style of Rand's aesthetic, I think. Including Casino Royale, if you had seen this movie.Aloha & thanks for the warm greetings everyone!Diane

WaikikiBen
This is one artists depiction of what Dagny Taggart looks like. http://www.randyelrod.com/dagny-taggart-atlas-shrugged-my-latest-watercolor-between-the-pages-series/ Not sure if he was riffing off Eva Green, but the two are very similar.
