BaalChatzaf
Jerry Pournelle, science fiction author, computer maven and essayist has died. He was age 84. He was a man of many accomplishment. One of his brightest observations is Pournelle's Axiom: In any bureaucracy, the people devoted to the benefit of the bureaucracy itself always get in control and those dedicated to the goals the bureaucracy is supposed to accomplish have less and less influence, and sometimes are eliminated entirely I think this goes farther to explain the poor performance of most of our corporations and governments than anything Ayn Rand put forth. For those not familiar with Jerry Pournelle and his work: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Pournelle Rest in peace, Jerry.
Peter
Three titles I remember are his collaborations with Larry Niven, “A Mote in God’s Eye,” “Inferno,” and “Lucifer’s Hammer” all written between 1975 and 1977. Great SF and at times, mind boggling. Peter
