As it did Ayn Rand’s, in The Fountainhead. ‘Skyscrapers,’ proclaims her hero Howard Roark, ‘are the greatest structural inventions of man.’ He then dismisses Greek temples and Gothic cathedrals as mongrels of every ancient style they could borrow from.
