I have a lot of respect for Ayn Rand, her thoughts regarding Art, the Romantic era (I read Romantic Manifesto). I have read ALL of Rand's fiction, and some of the compiled essays (The Virtue of Selfishness). In addition, I've read some of Nathaniel Branden and Leonard Piekoff's writing .. to be frank, I enjoy Rand more than these mentioned.
Tico Tico no fuba on cavaquinho? My next challenge. Hah.
Yes, I play many instruments. My musical focus now is playing electric cello in a hip hop band called Tempo Valley. http://myspace.com/tempovalley or http://myspace.com/dianerubio . Most of the members in the band are 'buddhist' ....
As I've aged, I've come to ... relax about ideologies ... I like to focus on recognizing the truths and virtues in every aspect of humanity / religion (if any) ... many times people will hold professed values (blatantly irrational ones), but actually subconsciously hold different ones - what actually works for existence / survival. Rand talks about this a lot - consciously and subconsciously held values.
Re: Eva Green. I think what is the most remarkable similarity are the eyes. Rand has crazy huge eyes! I saw in a video documentary.
Re: The Dreamers. It doesn't really matter that the Buddhist produced the movie, or that it was erotic heavy - just the way Eva Green acts - chooses to create what it is. It's very much in the style of Rand's aesthetic, I think. Including Casino Royale, if you had seen this movie.
Aloha & thanks for the warm greetings everyone!
