I've always been an upbeat person. That's changed somewhat.
Not a day goes by that I don't read or hear about this new Administration's aggressive and sweeping assault on individual rights; it's power grab to control more and more of our lives and our economy. I find it quite depressing. It's gotten to the point that I will immediately change the T.V. or radio channel if Obama is speaking.

Surely most, if not all, on this Board must be outraged by the current events.
How do you deal with it and stay upbeat?

Las Vegas,

There is a lot to remain upbeat about. The current progress being made in biological research is going to usher in an age of innovation and creativity to rival the information age. There is always great progress in recessions because scientists and engineers become cheaper :-).

Another thing to remain upbeat about is the absolutely breathtaking revolution in theoretical neuroscience being spearheaded by Hawkins, Damasio, Kandel, LeDoux and others. Our knowledge of the human brain is growing by leaps and bounds.

Jim: Thanks for reminding that there are people still thinking.

I go to the strip mall in my golfcart...find the Curves exercise place, duck my head in the door and say "YO WHATTUP FATTIES" and scurry off.

Or, I stuff a piece of baloney into my little dog's bone where he can't eat it.

Sometimes I shop online for air batons, just in case. I want the swanky wireless model.

Upbeat? You walk outside in any weather, look around, and say FUCK YEAH.

There's lots of ways.

I noticed something funny Stuart Hayashi does in his writing: he's down to calling Obama "President B.O."

Now that's funny stuff.

Weird!

The sentence that drew me to this forum appears to have been excised?

"Look at the progress being made in places like Pacific Biosciences in next generation DNA sequencing and Affymetrix and Illumina in genome analyzers." Used to be in Jims reply, but now isn't? In any case, I agree with Jim.

These companies are facilitating incredible advances in data production, however, it is going to take a HUGE number of researchers collaborating around the globe to take the most important step of piecing together the puzzle for all our benefit.

Welcome to OL John:

So why are you water?

Michael will more than likely be able to find out where that went.

Las Vegas,

Knowing that our perspective constitutes the antidote and a way to understand what is wrong helps. Then I make sure I do not let one day go by without letting someone else know about our profreedom movement. I will ask, "Have you heard of the Campaign For Liberty?" I proceed to tell them all about what we are up to, our growth and spread in the colleges and our plans to run for office across the country. I recommend a couple of books to read Ron Paul's The Revolution: A Manifesto and Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. I may jot down a few websites to. I end up feeling good. EVen feel better if I email my Senators about S604 as I did my Congressman about HR1207. He finally became a cosponsor and I think it was my emails that persuaded his staff to get him to join the cause. www.DownsizeDC.org makes it easy to do.

www.campaignforliberty.com 14 Jun 9 PM 158,377; 15 Jun 6PM 159,729, 10PM 159,783; 16 Jun 160,084 you realize each digit represents another person who has joined the movement to restore our Constitutional Republic and will help to find others to join with us until we have enough to make it happen in reality.

Las Vegas; Years ago at NBI someone either Nataniel Branden or Ayn Rand was asked a question. The question was when I read the newspapers I get depressed. What can I do about that. The answer was when you find out let us know. The times are irrational and have become more so.
