Not really to "uoo0", but to others here,

"Can you tell me every single seconds detail from that time when you born?"

Clearly there is information storage limits within our brain. Some things have to be forgotten in order to store new more important information.

Try recording your life with even a 1920x1080 digital video camera. Blue ray quality is 5MB/s. 432GB/day. 157.8TB/year. You can buy a good (Seagate) 4TB hard drive for $165 today. That's 40 4TB drives for $6508 USD. And you would probably want to buy 3x that number of hard drives to increase reliability... so now we are talking 120 4TB drives for $19526. You will also have to make a linux server computer with lots of PCIe raid drive controllers. A computer like this might cost $2000. You aren't going to get 120 drives in one computer. I have a friend who put about 20 drives in one computer, so that would be 6 computers at $2000 each, $12000 for the computers. So far we are ball parking around $32000.

Now just talking about the weight of those drives... they are 610g per drive, Times 120 is 73200g or 73kg (161lb). This isn't including the weight of the 6 computers, nor the power generators that supply power to these devices.

... and that's just for 1 year of storage of video/audio at blue ray quality. You have to carry an extra 73kg of hardware with you each year, and pay an extra $32000 per year to buy all of the equipment to store your data have have fast access to the information. Yea, maybe our brains are better at storing information than the latest Seagate hard disk technology. But I have to doubt that our brains are that many orders of magnitude better.

That's just recording mono sound instead of stereo, and much lower resolution and field of view. And no touch, taste, nor smell information. There's no question... this is a great deal of information. Why would it be evolutionary worthwhile for life forms to carry around that much data with them? This is simple... there is a ridiculous amount of information that is our reality in its whole. We are only a subset of reality. Hence we can only store a subset of Reality's information even for present information, let alone information about reality's state through the past.

Cheers,

Dean

Guys,

Please do not respond to spam--even gibberish spam like this that sounds like it might have some esoteric poorly stated meaning.

Here, let me show you something. Google the following phrase from the opening post in quotes and all:

"if you are not able to tell me about this life then what proof do you have that you didn't forget your past"

Or, if you prefer, click here.

I get 65,000 results as of this posting.

I have deleted the opening post, but I have to leave the user because I do not want to delete the posts of real OL users. And that's extra work.

So please help me out a little. Let sleeping spam-dogs lie.

Thanks,

Michael
