Does O'bama fear a Hillary Clinton Primary Challenge?

This is the question that is mounting in political circles. O'biwan may face challenges from the left, a la Senator Feinstein, who is out of a job and from the right in the thick thighed form of Hillary Rodham Rodham Clinton.

"To illustrate the point, imagine how easy it would be for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton—who most people expected to win the Democratic nomination and the election last time around—to mount such a campaign were she to opt to run. It would not be hard for her to position herself as the candidate of "the sensible center," straddling the middle between the over-spending, over-taxing left and the Tea Party right. Hillary, of course, has said she is not running. Many times."

"Obama is much more heavily invested in the left than Clinton ever was—meaning he has far less room to maneuver and, based on the way he has conducted his presidency during its first two years, considerably less political skill."

Are you talking about 2012? Unless O leaves Michelle for Lady Gaga, why would the Dems shoot off their own feet by dumping an incumbent?

Carol:

No one said either Feinstein or Hillary Rodham Rodham Clinton would win.

However, the party is in serious decline and will probably lose the Senate in 2012.

In 1968, there was a strong challenge from the left. Carter had a strong challenge from the left for his second term. In both cases, the incumbent sitting President lost.

Jim Webb, Democrat from Virginia has already announced that he will not run for re-election.

Only Billy boy has been the only Democratic President re-elected for a second term on the Democratic side since FDR. He moved to the middle and the Republicans had the Perot factor to deal with.

Seeking Presidential power is worth the attempt.

I can remember an insurgent campaign in Queens County, in NY City where we were hired to do the election day operations. We were pretty sure their candidate was a loser, but we did our usual great job and met our commitments. When I collected the balance of the money on election eve after the candidate had lost the primary for Congress, I was talking with two (2) of the major fundraisers in the campaign.

One of them said, "Well, $800,000.00 was worth the shot for getting a Congressional seat!" This was in the 70's. They blew $800,000.00 just for a chance at a Congressional seat.

Hillary aka "Her Thighness" for president?

Lawd have mercy!

LV:

That is Rush's satirical name for her and her pantsuits. Credit where credit is due.

However, would you trade her for O'biwan the incredible shrinking boy President right now?

Hell, I would and always viewed her as an unmitigated disaster, but since we have much worse than that now, I would gladly make the retroactive trade.

In fact, if she does run, I will get a paid gig and bust my ass to defeat the pitiful excuse for a President that temporarily occupies the White House right now.

Adam,

I first heard the "Her Thighness" label on the Mark Levin radio show. I laughed for 5 minutes! I don't listen to Rush.

I agree she would be better than Obama, but then again just about anyone would be an improvement, save Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, Harry Reid, Al Sharpton, Nancy Pelosi, Karl Marx, Wesley Mouch et.al.

I was about to correct it when I heard Mark refer to her that way tonight. My error.

He ran for the school board in Pennsylvania when he was 19 or 20 and got elected. I ran for mine when I was 24-25 in NY City and got elected. Neither of us had any children in the school system.

I went to Washington to watch him do a trial a long time ago and man was he good. Savage cross examiner. A real pleasure to watch.

Yes, I would want a front row seat for him debating O'bama.

I thought a few months ago that this might happen and said so somewhere on the O-web, but nothing came of it. Revised prediction: she won't run.

Reidy:

I want to agree with you, but some of the folks that I know in NY politics are pushing her hard to run.

I am still undecided on this.

Rumours grow where rumours grow -- in the pundit class and its audience, operatives, poltical junkies. What else can you do in between election cycles but speculate and trade rumours and indulge in wishful thinking? You need something to yap about.

Clinton may have put the kibosh on the rumours back in December (did she leave the door open a wee crack?), but probably only her death by guillotine on national TV would stop the speculation.

Clinton might run in the primaries. God might reinhabit J Neil Schulman. Thor might rise from the dead to lead us to Valhalla. All outside possibilities.

Meanwhile, in Montana, the Flathead Beacon reports on a bill introduced that will bar Obama from election since he is not 'natural born.' The door to a Clinton run swings open.

Mr. Scherk: re J. Neil, have you fallen off the wagon? ;) Perhaps some form of 12 step program is in order, but I suppose that program has its dangers too, given its first step and all...

As for Hillary, nothing bores me more than more speculation on her candidacy for anything, including Cuckhold of the Year. I say this not to knock others engaged in such speculation, but to simply acknowledge that such speculations in the past may well have crushed my soul, and that it hasn't yet healed.

Ralph Nader: Pressure O'bama in a primary strategy is a creative way to force him to the left.

Well he is not Hilary and this could backfire, but it appears that the pathetic Republican opposition will figure a way to turn this opportunity into another negative.

"But Nader, a registered independent, wouldn’t be one of them, he said, since all the candidates would be dedicated Democrats who could benefit from party infrastructure. 'This isn’t like a third-party or independent candidacy,' he said. 'This is different; it’s simple: They’re inside the party, they can certainly raise enough money for legal assistance filling out forms, they support Obama, but want him to keep his 2008 promises.'"

Today's Boston Herald

This probably won’t go over too well down on Blue Heron Farm, but the Democrats’ best chance of keeping the White House next year may be to adopt Barack Obama’s old slogan, “change.”

And by change, I mean dumping Obama.

Presidents who preside over recessions usually don’t get re-elected. A president who has presided over the most devastating economic crisis since the Great Depression has even worse odds.

Clearly an outside possibility, but someone may challenge O'biwan.

Bernie Sanders, self described Socialist from Vermont stated:

This led up to Jay "Jimmy Olsen" Carney being asked whether Hillary would run against O'biwan:

RUN HILLARY RUN - get them thar thighs high steppin to da Presidency!

The most popular national political figure in America today is one who was rejected by her own party three years ago: Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton
.
Nearly two-thirds of Americans hold a favorable view of her and one-third are suffering a form of buyer’s remorse, saying the U.S. would be better off now if she had become president in 2008 instead of
Barack Obama
.

“Looking back, I wonder if she would have been a stronger leader, knowing the games and the politics and all that goes on,” said Susan Dunlop, 50, a homemaker in New Port Richey,
Florida
. “I don’t think she would have bent as much.”

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/sep/19/liberals-vow-challenge-obama-democratic-primaries/

Worried the liberal voice is being drowned out in the presidential campaign, progressive leaders said Monday they want to field a slate of candidates against President Obama in the Democratic primaries to make him stake out liberal stances as he seeks re-election.

Ralph Nader warns that without an intraparty challenge the liberal agenda “will be muted and ignored,” the one-man primary will kill voter enthusiasm and voters won’t get a chance to reflect on the real differences that divide the Democratic and Republican parties.

Mr. Nader said the intent is not to defeat Mr. Obama but to make him focus on issues that might get lost in a purely Obama-versus-GOP discussion

And there's more!! Despite the author's obviously racist attitude to poor Barry the incredible shrinking president, he makes a great case!

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-chapman-obama-reelection,0,622512.column

When Ronald Reagan ran for re-election in 1984, his slogan was "Morning in America." For Barack Obama, it's more like midnight in a coal mine.

His approval rating is at its lowest level ever. His party just lost two House elections — one in a district it had held for 88 consecutive years. He's staked his future on the jobs bill, which most Americans don't think would work.

The vultures are starting to circle. Former White House spokesman Bill Burton said that unless Obama can rally the Democratic base, which is disillusioned with him, "it's going to be impossible for the president to win."

Democratic consultant James Carville had one word of advice for Obama: "Panic."

The ideal candidate would be a figure of stature and ability who can't be blamed for the economy. That person should not be a member of Congress, since it has an even lower approval rating than the president's.

It would also help to be conspicuously associated with prosperity. Given Obama's reputation for being too quick to compromise, a reputation for toughness would be an asset.

As it happens, there is someone at hand who fits this description: Hillary Clinton. Her husband presided over a boom, she's been busy deposing dictators instead of destroying jobs, and she's never been accused of being a pushover.

I have to admit that I never considered this as a possible scenario, but it is theoretically possible.

http://cnsnews.com/blog/grant-m-dahl/fmr-clinton-adviser-very-possible-obama-will-bow-out-presidential-race-now

In an interview with conservative radio icon Sean Hannity, former President Clinton adviser and campaign manager Dick Morris stated that, after speaking with a Democratic strategist, he thinks it is “very possible” that President Obama might acquiesce to requests from the Democratic leadership in Congress and bow out of the 2012 race, leaving the door open for him to return sometime in the future.
“I asked a top Democratic strategist the other day and he thought that it was possible that, in January, Harry Reid comes to Obama and says, ‘Look you cost us control of the House last year, you’re going to cost us control of the Senate this year. For the good of the party you have to step aside’” said Morris.

As the article mentioned that we do have the separate administrations of Democrat Grover Cleveland who won election in 1884, lost in 1888, and won in 1892.

This could be one of the strangest political years in history.

The Hillary wet dream continues...

President Obama should abandon his run for a second term and turn over the reins of the Democratic Party to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, two one-time Democratic pollsters wrote in Monday's
Wall Street Journal
, which appeared online Sunday.
Patrick H. Caddell and Douglas E. Schoen argued that just as Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson decided not to pursue additional runs though they could have, Obama should do the same.
Caddell and Schoen say
they write as “patriots and Democrats”
who are concerned for their country, and they do not expect to play a direct role in any possible Clinton campaign.

Patriots and Democrats, is that like Platypuses* and Carrier Pidgeons?

*kinda looks like Harry Reid though and both he, and the Platypuse are venomous!

Obama would then simply evaporate. He was created by the media and white guilt. No more use for him. Never had any gravitas whatsoever anyway.
