Is there a reason you placed this useful harangue under 'Music,' or do you know?

I suggest decaffeinated copy/pasting this weekend ... might give you more focus for copy/pasting an avatar and your mini-bio. You can always speak to your Islam=Death topic later, when you have something to say other than post a viideo that we have seen here before.

Or not. You are in the Zone of Freedom, after all. You may wish to visit OL's Zone of Bizarre Rants about Mooslims. Or rant at one of the three Muslim members. Or something else memorable and worthwhile.

This lady speaks the truth.

Until Islam is detoxified to the extent that Judaism and Christianity have been detoxified, the world will not be a peaceful place.

Bob,

Islam will become detoxified over time.

Muslims have no choice about that. Neither do those who fear and hate Islam.

Ironically, the advance of technology will guarantee it. And there's nothing anyone can do to stop it.

Check this out for a very good layman's view of what I am talking about:

How Are Advancing Tech, the ‘Singularity’ and Gov’t Regulation All Connected? Buckle Up and Let Glenn Beck Explain

The only thing that bothers me with this is the "oops" factor that will inevitably occur over and over as we humans adapt to new realities. The capacity for some righteous damage is lurking in the cracks. Unfortunately, that will happen.

So how to keep the bad stuff down as much as possible? I agree with Glenn (and Ayn Rand, for that matter, if you look at it right). Focus on morality (instead of, say, politics) will be the path for those who will control the future of this stuff. And whoever controls this stuff will be able to control and contain dictator-led formation of groups. Hell, they won't even need to try very hard.

A fundamentalist philosophy (or religion) can only become widespread and maintain itself in a fundamentalist form when communication is limited among the subjects. The era where it was possible to keep that up is now gone. Communication technology has seen to that. For the pockets of places where censorship still exists, it's only a matter of time before the stranglehold is broken. And not much time at that.

Fundamentalism can only flourish in an environement where other ideas--good and bad--are shut out. When people have a choice of ideas, core stories, knowledge of different social sturctures, etc., available, they will do what human nature dictates they do. They will choose.

Look around at the world. Not everybody chooses the same thing.

Ever.

And that kills the social impact of fundamentalism qucker than anything I have observed so far.

Fundamentalist dictators are now going the way of the dinasaur and the dodo bird. Their fundamentalist hold on large populations is right behind them.

We are actually living in a communication time similar to mankind's transformation from horse travel to vehicles moved by internal combustion engines. In all major transformations like this, there are those who still cling to the old ways right in the middle of the transformation, but they and their habits ultimately die off as the new social reality grows.

These days, it's charming and a lark to go somewhere by horse. But you don't live like that in society anymore.

This is the future of fundamentalism. It will become a new experience to try out, like a different flavor of ice cream, and that's about all. Some people will get hooked, but they will be in small numbers. Everybody else will be living the good life (or as much as they can handle).

Now, getting back to Islam, more specifically Islamism, can you imagine the impact on that culture when mankind starts printing pork in 3D printers?

It will happen and it's right around the corner.

Imagine the impact of that on another fundamentalist group, PETA, too.

:)

The advance of technology is merciless to all philosophical and religious fanatics, irrespective of their flag.

Let folks on all sides rage if they must, but I believe they are trying to piss on each other in a hurricane.

The source of violence in Islam is Muhammad, the founder of Islam. Islam is the religion of Muhammad. If Islam is ever detoxified, it will no longer be the religion of Muhammad and will no longer be Islam.

Perhaps some day Objectivism will be modified so it supports mysticism and socialism. If that happens, it will no longer be the philosophy of Ayn Rand and will no longer be Objectivism.

I do not hold to the idea that all religions must be respected and tolerated. Evil is evil. It wouldn't be so bad if it was merely false, like a harmless fairy tale. But it is evil, with evil consequences. And evil must be opposed. At the very least, we should tell the truth about Islam.

Force is not "in" Islam, it is Islam. Dealing with Islam with ostensive force has enabled it to bloat up morally (moral-immoral, take your pick) in the only way it can with reactive force to the reactive force (back in turn) of the West. By waging overt war in Iraq and Afghanistan consequent to 9-11, now going on 13 years, the United States has been feeding and breeding Muslim fighters who have nothing else valuable to do with their lives. Buying Middle Eastern oil especially from Saudi Arabia, hasn't helped; that country finances extreme expressions of Islam world-wide.

--Brant

9-11 was the most brilliant and effective tactical/strategic act of war ever--think of it as bear-baiting

Christianity has become over centuries the primary monotheistic religion of producers while Islam is that of destroyers

Jerry,

I like you, but your need to scapegoat is so open and sore, I get this overpowering urge to tell you it's not your fault.

What would that be?

Whatever it is that's eating you inside.

Michael

You are not making sense. Islam is evil. Plain and simple. Perhaps you see telling the truth about Islam as 'hate speech', which is not politically correct. So we should not tell the truth about bad things because that is 'hate speech'? Then let's not tell the truth about Hitler and Stalin and socialism and Kant and all bad things, because that's not politically correct.

You've reduced Islam to its founder thereby implicitly positing it as invincible for we can't get our hands on the SOB. You share this premise with Muslims thereby re-enforcing their anti-intellectual core. This is the world of argumentum ad hominem.

Brant,

If a person can accept that as "the truth," he has an excellent way to rationalize hating total strangers. That includes hating them in situations he can't possibly know.

Then all he has to do is go around trying to spread "the truth" and his life gets meaning from hatred instead of love of living. Most everyone I have met like that hurts real bad inside.

Like I said. Islam is a fallacy--many fallacies, but this one is at the core. You are implicitly sanctioning Islam by sanctioning the fallacy. When you attack the Prophet you attack any Muslim's best friend. After that any intellectual and moral arguments are worthless except to enemies of Islam who already agree with you. As the overt wars against some representatives of this religion only make it stronger, and in the worst way, so does your approach.

Muslims cannot be reasoned with. We either put up with them as they are, run away from them if we can, or if a war breaks out with them, kill them and let Allah bury the bodies. If Islam ever detoxifies itself (I expect it will not) it will be done by Muslims for and to Muslims.

You are an optimist., I do not share your optimism. We will have real war with these misbegotten savages. We will kill many of them and they will kill many of us and the last one standing is the Winner.

These beasts call themselves Muslims but I say they are the Amelakites.

Not by you, any way, not with your intellectual if not cultural collectivism, but the way to deal if not reason with Muslims is by first not ostensively fighting them.

--Brant

how many Muslims have you tried to reason with, btw, to come to your conclusion?

Fuck them and the camel they rode into town on. Muslims have killed (rather horribly) some of my people. I saw the video of one Jew being decapitated, a Mr. Perl. Screw the lot of them. I no longer care to distinguish "innocent:" Muslims from guilty ones, any more than Americans cared to distinguish "innocent": Japanese from guilty ones in the Pacific war. Do see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Pearl

I do not give one damn about who I offend any more. My concern for the tender feelings of Muslims is just about at the zero mark.

Bombs away! If there is a war, then we will kill whom we will kill and let Allah bury the bodies.

The most powerful thing that can be done to beat Islam is tell the truth about it. The Muslims (the more hard core of them) are so terrified shitless of the truth about Islam that they threaten to kill people who tell the truth about Islam. Craig Winn had many death threats against him. Ali Sina does not use his real name, to protect himself. Salman Rushdie had death threats against him. There was a big deal about the Islamic cartoons, because they accurately depicted Muhammad. In Europe and in Canada it is unpopular to talk bad about Islam because that is 'hate speech'. All this is because Muslims are terrified shitless of the truth about Islam.

A Muslim who sees the light and becomes an ex-Muslim can become a mega-powerful ally against Islam. A case in point is Ali Sina. Yes, sometimes they can be reasoned with.

To say that Muhammad was bad is not ad hominem. All the bad things he did were justified and sometimes required by the religion he invented. In doing the bad things he did, he was practising his religion.

Islam is a war manifesto against humanity. If there was such a thing as Satan the Devil, he would have a hard time inventing a worse religion than Islam. Craig Winn (a Christian) says Allah is Satan. For details, see:

Is there a remote possibility Islam will grip the West? By grip the West, I mean become the most common religion in the West?

In the West, seemingly mostly in America, it is tolerated and many people go to great lengths to accommodate it (Islam).

In America, Christianity has been mostly neutered because its vile practices weren't tolerated by a freedom-loving people. Will toleration of Islam lead to its dominance in America? Will the multiculturalists bend and contort and rationalize rape when it is perpetrated by Muslim men? Will theft and murder receive a pass if the perpetrator is Muslim?

Seems a little farfetched at this point. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. When absolute, end-in-itself, tolerance is taken to its final end, rape, murder, and theft will receive a pass.

... not with your intellectual if not cultural collectivism...

Brant,

Have you noticed in these discussions that there are no individuals at stake for the fanatics?

There are only collectives?

This says more to me about the person talking than it does about the substance.

Also, notice that they frame you, meaning you Brant, or me Michael, within their collective thinking. To them, if you are not against their scapegoat, you are on the side of "the enemy."

Dichotomy rejectors of fanaticism like you and I have no place in their thinking.

And the weird part is that it's all nothing but stories. It's fiction. People will kill to keep believing in their particular story (all fanatics on all sides), but that's not the worst part. What's worse is that each individual fanatic gets the stories of most people all wrong.

They can't even tell the goddam stories right, yet they want to kill.

There's something really wrong there. This is one of the reasons I started studying persuasion.

I admit, I have not used any of my newly acquired knowledge in these discussions. I keep holding out for reason to be effective. But one day I'm going to have to face the fact that, with fanatics, it's a loser's game.

I'm beginning to believe that these fanatical people deserve to be manipulated. Oh, they might get all macho thinking they control their own spiteful thoughts, and they'll tell you that in a loud voice, but like the people at Social-Engineer say, if a person believes he cannot be manipulated, he's just the person they want to meet.

What they deserve, Michael, is not necessary that they get. The fulminating smoke always comes out of their ears. They have no interest in how to effectively deal with the actual situation unless it involves kill 'em all--i.e., not thinking is what's important. Unlimber the big guns. Fire away. Intelligence per se is no protection against stupidity, which is intelligence or its lack in action. I'm smart, for instance, but have done (and said) stupid things. Everybody does. The real question is what are one's mental premises? I'm looking for ideas right and true which process I consider the bedrock of intellectual creativity. If I can't think up something new I'm interested in--usually the case--I seek out those who did or could or might. Jingoism is not what I'm talking about, not tribalism, not patriotism and not nationalism.

Ba'al Chatzaf, I would call this blind faith without evidence because If you are true christian, you would practice the message of Jesus Christ, not what opposes it !
