If it was today , I would take a Governor .

Ohio dude first .

Most def not Palin .

Curious who folks here would think could round out our ticket going forward ?

Ewwww, not Kasich. If you want a governor (or ex-gov), how about Rick Perry (Texas)?

Anyone remember Scott Walker?

He has been awful quiet since pulling out.

And Fiorina as an Evita attack platform is a possibility, However, the ticket "image" would be like he is running with his mother.

I think it's premature to assume he'll win the nomination.

And he's kinda screwed if he doesn't because he's given up on being a Senator and put everything into running for President (he will be attacked for the number of votes he's missed).

Maybe he'll end up being picked to be VP.

Here you go Marc...EDITORIAL: RJ editorial board endorses Marco Rubio for Nevada Republican caucus

Our reasons for endorsing Sen. Rubio are many. Notably, the Florida senator has deep personal connections to the state. He lived in the Las Vegas Valley from age 8 to age 14, the son of immigrants employed by the hotel industry. The driving force behind the 44-year-old's compelling story is his family's pursuit of better opportunities and a better life. The policies he champions in his campaign are intended to provide all Americans as much.

Those policies include issues of key concern for Nevadans. For example, Sen. Rubio agrees that the federal government owns too much land within Nevada's borders — more than 80 percent — and doesn't actively and appropriately manage that land. He believes the lack of privately owned land in Nevada and across the West greatly limits economic opportunity, and he supports transferring some federal land to private ownership. "There's no need for Washington to hold that much land," he told us.

On immigration, Sen. Rubio backs a reasonable approach to fix a broken system, while noting that legal immigration deserves just as much attention as illegal immigration. Among other reforms, he wants a merit-based system of legal immigration to replace today's family-based system.

Actually forgot about the thread , was so focused on NH !

Great article thanks !!!!!!!

I think he has to have an older male from a northern state , and he will not pick like Walter Mondale , just because .

Walker , think a great shot !!!!

Just Kasich , we win Ohio , we got Florida for sure . Then its a cakewalk .

Why would anyone be interested in who Rubio would pick as his Vice President of the Rotary Club?

We're supposed to be talking about the American government.

This was a real surprise to me.

Phyllis Schlafly is a Constitution attorney, leader of the conservative movement for five decades and an original Rubio backer.

This is a 15 page memo against Marco.

Filled with links to original sources.

Whether you agree with her conclusion, or not, this was not what Marco needed at this time.

All of which adds up to: there is likely no person in the United States of America in a better position to enact mass immigration legislation than a President Rubio — no one who could deliver more votes in both parties for open borders immigration. Senator Rubio is not Main Street’s Obama, he is Wall Street’s Obama: President Obama was a hardcore leftist running as centrist; Senator Rubio is a Wall Street globalist running as a tea party conservative.

Unlike other legislation, the effects of bad immigration policy cannot be repealed. They are forever. The Republican party would never nominate a pro-Obamacare candidate, and it must be an even stronger maxim that it should not nominate any candidate who is committed to a policy of mass immigration. Rubio wrote the Obamacare of immigration policies: a bill that would have eviscerated the middle class, plunged millions into poverty, legalized the most dangerous aliens on the planet, overwhelmed our schools and safety nets, and done irreversible violence to the idea of America as a nation-state. Rubio is the candidate of open borders, Obamatrade and mass immigration, making one last attempt to pull off one big con.

Man, did Rubio take a hit in the debate tonight.

Christie ate him for a snack.

Expect a lot of mocking on the Internet about Robocall Rubio.

Here's what happened. Rubio gave a 30 seconds polished routine (high level of emotion and all) saying how others think Obama does not know what he is doing, but he (Rubio) thinks Obama knows exactly what he is doing, and that is to make the USA like the rest of the world and he (Rubio) is going to... etc.

He had already said that once and was on it another time when Christie butted in and said that was what Rubio does, he makes a drive-by shot at someone, then goes off into a 25 second memorized schtick for inspiration. But he (Christie) doesn't do rehearsed routines, he knows what real reality is... etc.

Now here's the thing.

Don't you know that Rubio got flustered and said the same goddam thing (high level of emotion and all) another three times in a row?

He actually did sound a bit like a robocall. Or a wind-up talking doll that got stuck looping.

I felt a bit sorry for him.

I don't know how this will affect the voting, but like I said, expect the mocking to be brutal.

Yeah, that was really pathetic and lame. Seems like he got rattled and went on automatic pilot, which had a pretty deadly effect.

If I could have whispered in his ear, I'd have nudged him to give a little historical/biographical background for the remark. About how BHO was steeped in radical left and communist ideals from childhood onward, and that his mission to take America down to size was his father's unfulfilled ambition, and BHO gets to do it as a tribute to his dead Marxist father, in return for carrying out the socialist-progressive agenda of tearing down America. Had he been properly vetted, BHO's ideology *and* his agenda would have been clearly revealed, and the voters would never have elected him.

If Rubio had said *that,* I think it would have spun heads around not only in NH tonight, but would have been the talk of both conservative and lamestream media for days. But Rubio had no depth to his answer, only mindless, blurted repetition of his canned (and absolutely correct) point - which suggests either that he was so badly rattled that he *couldn't* bring in this background stuff to support the point, or that he doesn't even have a deep understanding of what he's talking about. At this point, I'm not sure which is true...

And crap - nobody jumped on the draft registration (for women) question. To oppose it, I mean. That is one of the lost opportunities because of Rand Paul having dropped out. No self-respecting person with even a "libertarian streak" (thanks, Sarah) would have let that one go by, even if they had to seize the microphone and start shouting about how statist-socialist-fascist the draft is and even the idea of signing up being a coerced agreement that the state owns your life any time it wants to ask (quote-unquote) for it.

The only good moment coming out of it was the exchange between Bush and Trump regarding eminent domain. It was marred by Trump interrupting Bush, then Trump shushing Bush when he tried to interrupt. Guess that's what Alpha males do. But Bush shamed him pretty badly, I thought. The 23 people living in northern New Hampshire who are NIMBY opposed to the power lines coming over from Canada will probably vote for Bush because of that. I don't see that it will really have much effect. It was just cool to see Trump trying to wave the criticism away and people not buying it.

As for the upcoming Tuesday night vote, here's my prediction: Trump about 25%, Cruz and Rubio about 20% each, Christie and Jeb and Kasich about 10% each, Ben Casey 5%. (The last being a reference to an old medical tv series from 50 years ago.)

Roger,

You mean this?

The Interwebs is afire with people talking about how Trump stood up to the audience. They're saying he's the only one who has the balls to do it like that.

So I don't know where you saw shaming. I didn't see any. I saw peer pressure attempted, but it didn't go anywhere. Not with Trump. Not with the public at large.

Maybe us Trumpers are just shameless.

I was going to put up a few headlines about Rubio to be a smartass to Marc, but even I'm getting a bit irritated.

I thought it would be brutal. But they're doing to him what they did to Sarah Palin. It just started and it's no longer fun.

(You can bet Jeb's hand is behind this--maybe not his hand, but the hand of one of his folks.)

I honestly hope they stop. I don't expect it, though.

Tomorrow the Sunday talk shows are on...

All due respect sir but he will not be screwed if he loses , he is running for POTUS , and thats the prize . Losing while trig to make your country great again , and then supporting the winner as he pledged is a win !!!!!

But interesting on the VP pick , I did not see that but that would be cool and then he wins it in 2024 !! 4 terms straight for us !!!!!!

I know what you mean and wow on this article , especially from her because she has real clout . Bottom line though - as we see with DT - is getting on the media train like DT is good . We need Reagan Dems , we need the undecided and I agree , that was quite the kill shot ( attempt ) but its all good !!!

I am tough , I can take it !!!!!!!!!!!!! Big deal , he gets an F for the debate , an A+ for Iowa and probably an A+ for NH . a win in SC and the race is done .

Its the politics that folks are sick of and I believe the average US voter who sees the issues on the ground in his own life just say that its all BS .

Rubio is young , good looking , very charismatic , Latinos , Black voters , women , and the youngins all love him . The choice being HC , its done .

But , he repeated his rehearsed answer 3 times straight cause a Jersey thug went after him and Jeb Bush too .

To quote Biggie Small , "its all good , baby baby "

I really love your prediction , I think its real close like you stated .

I want my President ( get a hold of me ???? MY President ????? ) to work with the Senate and Congress , I want Rubio to learn on the job - yeah , I said it . On the job !!!! Debates , I could not care less about debates where they are all looking for that special line to be replayed for the next 50 years .

Christie did it !! He said he would attack him Jersey style , he did , he dinged him real good and tomorrow Tuesday Christie goes back to Jersey and can kiss Obamas ass again .

Net effect , Rubio does better in NH .

The United States needs to bond across party lines , the people know this .

President Rubio will do this .

Bush leaves race after a few more states

Christie leaves after NH

Trump leaves after SC or Nevada or by Super Tuesday if he wants to see what a real ass kicking feels like

Kasich VP

No idea who else is even in this "race " anymore

Marc,

The problem when you are a made and owned politician like Rubio is that you have to keep the racketeers in the backroom happy.

The feeling I'm getting from the tone of the press (which the backroom kingmakers own) is these particular power-brokers are not happy with their boy. They can accept almost anything about their boy except he be perceived as something to laugh at. That is the kiss of death and that is the problem Rubio has to squash to stay alive.

(Apropos, for an extreme recent example, the problem with staying in power Anthony Weiner faced was not the sex crap--hell, look at Bubba. It was the hilarity that ensued and would not go away.)

Rubio doesn't have to keep the public or the pundits happy. But he does have to keep his masters happy. I don't think they are too happy with him right now. And I don't think they're laughing...

Michael
