The Exploitation of Trayvon Martin

Dear god. Don't go around wearing hoodies, don't go around doing anything that others might interpret as being threatening to them, don't be black if you can help it, don't don't don't... is this individual rights in the land of the free?

Once again, you missed the point. Geraldo is not black. Geraldo was explaining that if you are going to dress like a thug, whether you are oriental, white, Latino, or black, and you are skulking around a neighborhood, you will attract attention.

If Trayvon was in a sweatshirt, or a tee shirt and windbreaker, he would have not drawn as much suspicion as the "hoodie.' This is reality.

O Adam, you missed my point. (And btw Geraldo I think is not even Geraldo but originally a Gerald, until being Geraldo sounded better career-wise)) He was explaining nothing i did not already know.

What nobody wishes to discuss or explain is why anyone should die, because of the subjective assumptions/fears of another person.

The tragedy surrounding Trayvon's death is not in the possibility that it might have something to do with white racism; the tragedy is in the lustfulness with which so many black leaders, in conjunction with the media, have leapt to exploit his demise for their own power.

That is the key point. Is it pure coincidence that this little drama has emerged in an election year and a radically leftist president is facing an uphill battle for re-election? Does anyone seriously believe that the drive-by media would spend five seconds on this story if Zimmerman were black?

This whole disgusting spectacle has nothing to do with the guilt or innocence of Zimmerman. I have no idea if he acted in self-defense or not, and neither does Sharpton, Jackson, the leftist media or our pathetic, race-baiting, power-hungry excuse for a president. He and his cronies clearly have no reservations about doing their part to help incite riots in the streets when a second Obama term is at stake.

Carol:

You are making subjective assumptions about Zimmerman's state of mind which none of us can possibly know.

Now here is a participant in this disaster that will truly help...right!!!!

The United Nations human rights chief has called for an "immediate investigation" into the killing of Trayvon Martin.

Navi Pillay, the UN human rights chief, made the comments at a press conference in Barbados.

She also expressed concern over Florida's controversial "Stand Your Ground" law, which has come under scrutiny since the killing of Martin by "neighborhood watchman" George Zimmerman.

"As High Commissioner for Human Rights, I call for an immediate investigation," Pillay told reporters.

Third News Network Admits to False Reporting on George Zimmerman

Posted on April 6, 2012 by Conservative Byte

Safe to say that the media has destroyed George Zimmerman. They set out to destroy George Zimmerman, and they’ve done it. It’s unconscionable what they’ve done. George Zimmerman doesn’t have a microphone, can’t fight back. He was just singled out and destroyed. The third network has come forward today and admitted that their original interpretation of a tape involving words spoken by Zimmerman may now not be correct. The third network. The first was NBC, which admitted doctoring a 911 tape. This is not an accident that takes place in the hustle and bustle of putting together a newscast.

Man, 78, recounts assault by 6 youths in E. Toledo

BY TAYLOR DUNGJEN

BLADE STAFF WRITER

Man-78-recounts-assault-by-6-youths-in-E-Toledo.jpg Dallas Watts, 78, indicates where he was kicked during an assault that took place in East Toledo on Saturday. He said there were six boys, the youngest one 11 years old. THE BLADE/LORI KING Enlarge | Photo Reprints

It was six against one.

Six juveniles -- the youngest 11, and the oldest 17 -- nearly boxed in Dallas Watts, a 78-year-old man from East Toledo.

Mr. Watts was on his way home from the nearby Gas Express Mart at Starr Avenue and White Street about 4:45 p.m. Saturday when the boys approached him.

PHOTOS: Man, 78, recounts assault

One pointed at Mr. Watts and said, "take him down," the victim recounted in an interview Monday.

Mr. Watts, carrying home two small bags of pork rinds to dole out as treats to his three dachshunds, looked at the youth and said, "Why you picking on me?" Mr. Watts recalled. "Remember Trayvon. Why you picking on me?"

The boy, again, allegedly told his friends to "take him down."

Toledo police charged two children -- the 11-year-old and a 17-year-old -- with robbery, Sgt. Roy Kennedy said.

The boys on Monday were ordered held in detention at the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center, prosecutor Lori Olender said.

The 17-year-old also faces a felonious assault charge from an unrelated shooting, Ms. Olender said. The teen allegedly shot Mark Bolling, 24, in the 600 block of Leonard Street in East Toledo on March 18.

Mr. Watts said one of the boys delivered a single blow to the back of his head during the incident Saturday, knocking the victim to the ground.

At one point, the victim recalled being lifted from the ground so one of the boys could "drop-kick" him in the chest.

One boy, he said, put his foot on the back of the victim's neck, with another shouting, "Kill him."

While Mr. Watts was down the boys kicked him, over and over, shouting, "[Get] that white [man]. This is for Trayvon ... Trayvon lives, white [man]. Kill that white [man]," according to a police report.

The boys fled when a man shouted at them, according to the report.

Mr. Watts said it's possible the assault was retribution for the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was fatally shot by George Zimmerman, a Neighborhood Watch captain in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26. Mr. Zimmerman has said he fired in self-defense and has not been charged with any crime.

For investigators, it's unclear whether the assault was motivated by an attempt to avenge the Martin youth's death or whether Mr. Watts' "Remember Trayvon" message was misinterpreted as threatening or racist.

"It's still up in the air who started the verbal confrontation," Sergeant Kennedy said, adding that stories given by the suspect and the victim conflict and the investigation is ongoing.

When asked about the Trayvon remarks, Mr. Watts said, "All I meant by saying 'remember Trayvon' is to remember what happened to him, don't duplicate it here," suggesting that he was minding his own business as he walked home.

"The only reason I mentioned Trayvon, that was my defense," Mr. Watts said. "Don't pick on me. I am not your enemy."

The assault occurred only a few hours after a peaceful rally, near the Thurgood Marshall Building, 420 E. Manhattan Blvd., to show support for the Martin family.

At his home Monday, Mr. Watts said he has never allowed weapons inside and that when his four children were growing up, they were not allowed to play "cops and robbers, to kill the Indians."

During the Vietnam War, Mr. Watts, who served in the military from 1950 to 1961, refused to let his boys play GI Joes.

There would be no more killing, he said.

But now, Mr. Watts says he plans to buy a gun and obtain a permit to carry it.

"What happened to me … down here on the corner, that changed my perspective on humanity," Mr. Watts said.

ZoNation:

Black men named Trayvon get killed all of the time in America, so why does the left fail to express consistent outrage? Is there something different about the slaying of Trayvon Martin’s death, or is the real problem that the left tolerates extraordinary violence against black men in America?

Adam,

Welcome (I don't think) to the world of racist double standards. I saw them at work under the apartheid

State...now am experiencing them in reverse in our present State.

You don't get used to it.

Here comes the "cavalry":

Armed Neo-Nazis Now Patrolling Sanford, Say They Are "Prepared" For Post-Trayvon Martin Violence

By Michael Miller

April 6 2012

Riptide 2.0

WTF Florida

Miami New Times Blog

From the article:

Neo-Nazis are currently conducting heavily armed patrols in and around Sanford, Florida and are "prepared" for violence in the case of a race riot. The patrols are to protect "white citizens in the area who are concerned for their safety" in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting last month, says Commander Jeff Schoep of the National Socialist Movement. "We are not advocating any type of violence or attacks on anybody, but we are prepared for it," he says. "We are not the type of white people who are going to be walked all over."

Because nothing diffuses racial tension like gun-toting racial separatists patrolling an already on-edge community.

Schoep, whose neo-Nazi group is based in Detroit, tells Riptide the patrols are a response to white residents' fears of a race riot.

When things get bad and you can finally nail the racists for clearly being racist, you can always count on some assholes showing up to make things worse and remove any moral high ground that existed.

Socialist to boot...

I think that the Sheriff's Department should round up the New Black Panther Party members and the Neo-Nazi Party members and put them in two large enclosed cages.

Then bring the cages to a stadium where all the external doors are sealed and there are armored booth on top of the stadium with special forces snipers.

Then we sell pay for view and open the cages. The proceeds will go to reducing the national debt,

A guaranteed win win win. New Black Panther members dead, Neo-Nazi members dead and lots of money made of the global event.

Extras cool benefit, no innocent civilians get killed by these two (2) malignant cults.

Adam,

Once this thing blows up and the Stand Your Ground law gets some kind of official endorsement or overturn, I look forward to the inevitable interpretations from a broader historical perspective. I expect to hear that any racial issues that get resolved will be "unintended consequences."

That the fighting really wasn't over race at all.

It was over the government's role in neighborhoods and the Second Amendment.

Stick to comedy bill...

SIMMONS: Bill Cosby weighs in on Trayvon Martin case

By Deborah Simmons

-

The Washington Times

1:27 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2012

simmons_horiz_s100x62.jpg?22370cc86e73ebe5f6250d51f0ff2db6dc386730

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

“The gun.”

Those two simple words flowed easily from the mouth of social commentator Bill Cosby during an exclusive interview Friday regarding the Trayvon Martin case, arguably the most high-profile, citizen-on-citizen U.S. slaying facing the Obama administration.

Trayvon was killed Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fla., by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman, who told police that a “confrontation” with the unarmed 17-year-old led him to shoot in self-defense.

Mr. Cosby, a Navy veteran, said “the gun” empowered Mr. Zimmerman, whose actions have stirred a firestorm of debate, protests and remarks from President Obama.

“We’ve got to get the gun out of the hands of people who are supposed to be on neighborhood watch,” said Mr. Cosby, whose remarks were the first he has made publicly about the case.

“Without a gun, I don’t see Mr. Zimmerman approaching Trayvon by himself,” Mr. Cosby explained. “The power-of-the-gun mentality had him unafraid to confront someone. Even police call for backup in similar situations.

“When you carry a gun, you mean to harm somebody, kill somebody,” he said.

An award-winning actor and great American humorist, Mr. Cosby, 74, is best know for the ground-breaking NBC sit-com “The Cosby Show,” stand-up routines and recorded performances, all of which are infused with familial humor.

Scheduled to perform April 28 at the Kennedy Center, Mr. Cosby continues to grace multiple platforms, and is scheduled to tickle funny bones as co-emcee at the April 12 gala celebrating the reopening of the historic Howard Theatre in Northwest Washington.

But it was at another celebration, the NAACP marking of the 50th anniversary of the landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education school-desegregation decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, that saw Mr. Cosby take a spot on the forefront of controversial social commentary.

In his remarks at the 2004 event, Mr. Cosby pointed out to the audience that blacks had essentially created a new lower rung on the socioeconomic ladder by failing to police their children. Since then, he has traveled the nation and used social media to expound the virtues of personal accountability, responsible parenting and a sound education.

Every time a conflict between a white and black person is posted about on the Internet, there is inevitably an eruption of suppressed racism against blacks in the comments.

Just another reason people should be careful of making things about race.

What suppressed racism? It is manifestly the case that the Black Hoodie Boy is innocent and the overweight White Man is guilty. It is axiomatic and self evident. Everyone knows this.

I was just making an observation to how many (I'm assuming) youngish white males take the opportunity to spout racial slurs because they think they are on the winning side. I don't understand the desire to stir up shit just because one is "safe".

I didn't think anyone would interpret me as referring to anyone on this forum, but sorry for the confusion.

Anyway, what I got from the phone call recording is a sense that racism was not a factor. If Zimmerman did anything wrong, it was vigilantism, as the 911 operator told him not to pursue Martin.

Which according to the map that I posted in Post #44 above, has now been called into doubt also. It may be that Trayvon, doubled back and confronted Zimmerman,

Curiouser and curiouser...Zimmerman vanishes and his attorney's abandon him...

In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, George Zimmerman’s attorneys — Hal Uhrig and Craig Sonner — said they have lost contact with their client since Sunday afternoon and have withdrawn from the case.
Sonner said that last contact was via text message.
Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fla., contacted state attorney Angela Corey and Fox News host Sean Hannity on his own without their guidance, Uhrig said. According to Uhrig, Zimmerman said, “I don’t have any attorneys, they’re just my legal advisers.”
