ANother danger from Solo Passion

Recommended Posts

I just clicked on a link to the Solo (Perigo) WWW-site.

And found that the site was trying to download some serious bad stuff to my computer. NOt just cookies, but stuff which downloads more and more software...

Watch out!!! The dangers of Solo are evidently not limited to intellectual contamination.

Bill,

I have not had that kind of problem so far with Solo Passion. I have had cookies from there but that is par for the course with any forum. (I never bothered to read Solo Passion cookies, so I don't know if monkey-business was written in them. My initial impression is that there is none.)

I will be interested in seeing if anyone else has had the problem you report.

Solo Passion presents a lot of horrible, purposely offensive stuff about many people, cultures and countries, so it is very plausible that it got some high-powered enemies along the way. For as much as I despise the core group on Solo Passion, I do not imagine they are the source of any wrong-doing hacking-wise. That doesn't ring true of their form of bullying.

I am not against a good neighbor policy on this. After all, many OL posters and other really good people read Solo Passion. So I suggest you get in touch with them and try to provide as detailed a report as you can. Just so you do not have to log back on there, here is the email:

webmaster@solopassion.com

If there is a real security problem they need to address, your report will prove valuable. And not valuable just to them, but to many online readers in the Objectivist-libertarian world.

Even with all the fireworks, if I, Michael, encountered a security issue like the one you describe with Solo Passion, I would not hesitate to get in touch with the webmaster and alert him. If you feel uncomfortable doing that, please send me as detailed a report as you can manage and I will send it to them myself.

Michael

Michael -

I was in a bit of a hurry to get the junk off of my computer (I think you can understand why!). I'll have to repeat the process to get the detailed information and names of the files.
