You wrote Greek in the title but then reference the word geek in your message. That is a telling, spelling error. Another pejorative word indicating geek-iness is nerd. Let us coin a hyphenated word, geek-nerd for the little boy who likes to play with toy soldiers when young, and then with his computer when older and finds himself the most fascinating thing in the universe.

Movies like The Martian and Castaway, and books like Robinson Crusoe aptly portray humans with no human social contact and it is thought to not be a good thing. I remember in past centuries being marooned was thought to be a fate worst than death. I don't think it is. People who suddenly or gradually become deaf or blind sounds like a nightmare. I think I would miss sounds but even then I think deaf people can feel vibrations in their mastoid bone if they put their ear near a speaker playing music. I would risk an operation if I lost my hearing or sight . . . in an instant.
