Someone Actually Did Something Smart In Education Structure - The Rumsfeld Design!

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) — A lot of people say we should stand up for education but, at Vallecito Elementary in San Rafael, they’re actually doing it.

“To me, this is the wave of the future,” says 4th grade teacher Maureen Zink.

In four of the school’s classrooms, chairs have been removed and students spend the day standing at their desks. Some parents, concerned about how sedentary kids have become, donated money for the new desks.

And it did not take a federal program with tons of funding either...

Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld stopped by 'Piers Morgan Tonight' (weekdays, 9PM ET on CNN) Tuesday to promote his new book, 'Known and Unknown.' After he and Morgan finished discussing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that Rumsfeld oversaw, Morgan confronted Rumsfeld about his habit of working while standing up -- which Morgan classified as "odd." And that's when Rumsfeld started getting a bit defensive.

"That's not odd," Rumsfeld disagreed.

"It's very odd," Morgan shot right back.

"It's not. It's perfectly normal," Rumsfeld insisted, his wide smile masking his exasperation.

Er, "Brucie" Jenner?

What you write, that Jenner is now persona non grata to the LGBT community, does this very strong claim come with any evidence?

Nope just hearsay about his trashing on Twitter and I do not Tweet.

Just a joke.

Okay, but the students who mastered the material are not helping those who haven't yet, leaving the old model in place so they might as well sit back down. An old early 19th C. pre-public education model was students standing around stations and helping each other with one teacher with 40 or even many more students. The new model takes the joy out of learning making school an ordeal most brains don't survive. That's the society we now live in. We are surrounded by zombies except for food and sex. The food isn't so good and the sex is only a bunch of non-orgasmic ejaculations.

Well it is about Education in America which is frankly hilarious...

Take a look at this gem.

Galveston, Texas (CBS HOUSTON) — A Texas A&M Galveston professor says he hit a “breaking point” as he failed an entire class of students in his management course that he said required “security guards” for him to feel safe teaching.

In a scathing email sent to students in his Strategic Management class, Texas A&M Galveston professor Irwin Horwitz called his class a disgrace to the school and said “it became apparent they couldn’t do some of the most simple and basic things they should have been able to do,” KPRC-TV reports. Horwitz said a semester of backstabbing, lying, cheating and disrespect has caused him to fail everyone in the class and that he will no longer be teaching the course.

“Enough was enough,” Horwitz wrote in the email obtained by KPRC. “Yesterday I reached the breaking point.”

Jewish professor in Texas - damn, well shut my post Civil War mouth!

I guess he waited until end of the semester to make sure he was paid.

Hard to respect someone who can't control the teaching environment in his own classroom. I had a very nice Jewish social studies teacher, Mr. Sturm, in the 9th grade who was always being cut up by a some of his students but he didn't try to deal with them one on one but rather as a collective classroom behavior leaving them free to operate under the umbrella he provided. None of my other teachers, some also Jewish, had this approach or this problem. From a broader perspective today I can see how he could have been a collateral victim of the Holocaust although he wasn't a European but quite an American Jew. He frequently had a copy of The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich on his desk. That was common reading in 1960. This is just speculation. For me he was just too nice. My ideal back then was the story involving a 19th C schoolhouse and a couple of students bullying their teacher who came to school one day with a big, long whip he knew how to use and did. You know the kind--with a nine-foot reach making a supersonic crack and an expert will take the cigarette right out of your mouth.

Not biased, however, my other favorite story is from the film How Green Was My Valley and the cruel teacher to the Roddy McDowell character (and the students generally), Huw, who got a visit from two miners also boxers who taught him all he didn't want to know about boxing after the teacher had unjustly beat Huw with his stick after he had successfully defended himself from bullies after instruction from these two.
