  1. Studio I would definitely have to agree with you on that one fanfiction does have its own je no se qua that people still find fascinating even if it is some sort of horrible debauchery of the original text I do wish that there was more rand fict whether it be atlas or fountainhead or even a mixture of the two eventhough i dont think that roark and galt would have hung out that much if at all ( now there is an idea (to bad I have horrible grammatical skills)) I'll continue to look though
  2. I for one find the passage written very well, and enjoy the conversations between hank and frisco. It really adds a little more insight into the valley i think. It really does suck that Ayn never wrote anymore on atlas I think she could have had a beautiful piece on her hands with that one. I think that Atlas left a very open ended storylin towards the end making it possible for people to make fanfiction or just fraw their own inferences on it and continue on with their story.
  3. IMDB says that Charlize Theron is going to be Dagny I think that we should have olivia newton john or michelle pfeifer about 20 years ago Charlize does look good to play in it I think robert downy would play a very good Ragnar or Fransisco hell maybe even Galt depending on if he could bleach his hair never know
  4. I think they should remake "The Fountainhead". I think that it would really flip the film industry and possibly some of the youth of the nation or the people that have read rand before and forgot about the joys of individualism and capitalism. I think it might be good to do. Granted Gary Cooper can never be replaced as Howard, but I think it would be a good idea to do either way.
  5. no worries ted i liked it in high school still enjoy reading it everynow and then
  6. i would have to agree with you on that deduction selene if you look at his style of public speaking during the campaign and the debates he actually never really said anything substantial bebsides the fact that he wanted change and medical reform but for the most part he just tried to use (in my opinion) his young handsome up and comingness( yeah not a word i know) plus his being black to appeal to a hidden thing in everyone to not be a racist but then all candidates use something like that to there advantage and propagandize sp? something like that to drag in the undecided people but back to the real story he does flip flo pa lot on his words i can totally understand saying that we elected a beta male for the presidency
  7. JG: Welcome to OL. What branch did you serve in? Adam i am currently enlisted in the national guard out of illinois i know i know very nonobjectivist of me i think ayn will forgive me lol and thanks selene you guys have deinately given me a way better perspective on objectivism than what i had before it was just me and my friend amy talking about which actor/actress would be good for an AS movie nothing about the philosophy glad to know there are some intelligent people out there willing to engage in free speak and open forums about all things objectivist Kudos OL major Kudos
  8. many thanks michael i live in salem and my friend amy got me involved in it since she and i are both freethinking people stuck in a horrible fiddler on the roof style area driven by tradition and havent looked back since
  9. no i have never heard of them where at in illinois are they located if you dont mind me asking
  10. You're not going to find a lot of first-rate commentary on FOX NEWS. I don't know michelle i think that oreilly has some very witty banter with his guests and he has a few objectivist viewpoints he isnt the nicest and certainly not the most intelligent person on syndicated news channels today i mean no dan rather but he gets the job done and isnt afraid of whos toes he steps on whilst getting the job done I don't care for O'Reilly. He doesn't seem to think critically, instead preferring to speak in a language of buzzwords and slogans (although not to the degree Hannity does). His philosophy is severely limited (consider how he seperates people into one of two camps: "traditionalist" or "secular progressive." Where the hell does that leave libertarians, Objectivists, religious progressives, etc.?) He constantly lets his emotions usurp his rationality and bullies his guests unfairly to the point where I begin to feel sorry for them even when I think O'Reilly is in the right. i can see your point michelle i like some of his points he makes when he talks to certain people that give him an actual reason to flame the hell out of them but i will have to agree he is very emotional when he does do interviews

    Rush - Working Man

I'm here for you guys i am a huge rush fan not only is my middle name Rush (no links to the band) but i am a huge rush collector also i read liner notes in cd cases and if you all read the liner notes in the 2112 album there is a thing about ayn rand thinking that rush's album 2112 is a masterpiece of objectivist music and she says something along the lines of they grasped the feeling and philosophy of objectivism pretty cool huh well yeah rush is an amazing band i just got the snakes and arrows cd and i love it i know it has been out for a little bt now but i finally got my hands on it that whole band is amazing they just do great things with music

  13. excuse ladies and gents i don't whether this is a rant or just a curious pursuit of knowledge, but why is it that California is AS as a state and it has like every single objectivist convention, gathering, whathaveyou I live in Illinois one of the most unsure of itself states but we have no objectivist things at all and we are in the middle of one of americas most productive parts of nearly every sector of business you'd think we would ( by we i mean the bible/corn belt) would have objectivist things coming out of our ears (no pun intended) it just doesnt make any sense to me but then again i am fairly new to objectivism as it took me two years to read anthem TF TVOS and AS very enjoyable boks just long and dry in a few parts love the movement though actually finishing my atlas tattoo on my shoulder within the week but i digress if anyone could help me in my quest here it would be greatly appreciated Rush(real name)
  14. Love my country Hate my Government

  15. Have you read Salinger's "Franny and Zooey?" Oh, and, as regards Hinton, Tex was one of my favorite books when I was young. yes i found that one day wondering around aimlessly in borders i loved tex and the outsiders eventhough the move wasone ofthe biggest bastardizations in the history of the book to film genre of movies
