  1. To surrender to our feelings means to accept them, then be conscious of them and, consequently, to dominate them, our rage and fears and be emotionally active, not emotionally passive, but passionate. --Brant hope this helps A forum is always a way of expression about the things that people think. But to repeat words of others to correct them, I consider that is a lack of respect I've never found in any place.
  2. To surrender to feelings means to accept them, and then, be conscient of them, and, consequently, dominate them. Dominate our rage, our fears and be emotionally active, no emotionally passive (passional).
  3. Reading the ancients writers, I have learnt so much, over all, to know myself. My logo, is the enigma of Edipus. This enigma express essentially the meaning of my life. But who helped me to connect the ancient philosophy with my present problems, was Nathaniel Branden and Ayn Rand. People can't understand Spinoza, for exemple or Aristotle, but can understand Nathaniel or Rand. But is in my personal situation where I found the main response to my dificulties showing me why are originated. They don't express anything new. They express only the essence of ancient philosophy in modern times, that made possible the progress of modern world emerged in the Industrial Revolution in middle eighteenth century: in the difficulties to connect with reality through reason and conscience: our moral faculty. I can understand Edipus or Hamlet, when we guide our lifes by looking for pleasures and satisfactions in place of accept our pain and then our reality. Denying our reality or the reality, we condemn ourselves to it: the fatalism and autodestruction. Accepting reality, we feel better and expand our conscience to a wide sphere where we can learn about experience and understand what Seneca said: life is fighting and fight is living. Sorry about my english: is a reality that I'm learning listening documentaries and realding ebooks.
  4. Hello Stephen. I'm Daniel from Spain. The thing that more impact on me from the novel is the courage of Howard to fight for liberty in creative production like the cause of all benefits for oneself first, and for the others after. In oposition to Ellsworth Toohey and others. This kind of malevolence I always find in Spain. Causes unhappiness and the ruin of a country. I'm so tired to find this situations in work. You have not liberty to think and to work in Spain, and if you dare to express the truth, can you be sure that you pay for it. I invite you to see a British documentary of BBC in you tube entitled "When the moors ruled Europe". Talks about the muslim inheritance in Spain. You can obtain many answers: is a great documentary. By the way, in youtube my user is also ENLIGHTENMENTING. I hope you like it.
  5. Autors like Seneca, Plutarch, Samuel Smiles and others explains that the moral ruin of a society causes the economic ruin too. The moral ruin of a person, causes his physical and economic ruin. If you want to find a country where you can verify the Rand's assertions to the practice...come to Spain, please!! Sex, drugs and alcoholism are the result, and the social degradation too,and finally the economic ruin. I read Isabel Paterson's work "The God and the machine" who explains that empires like Roman empire, or British empire or a great nation like United States, is great not by laws or force, but by morality (o tempora o mores). Farewell.
  6. If I have understan well, I'm proud of you too. If this even had happened in Spain, this fact had not been possible at all. In Spain all the Jamaican family come to Spain with the aids of public funds payin all contributors. A tax of unemployment incredible (27%) show the way to Spanish government to incite young prepared people to go out to another countries, and attract "balseros" coming from Africa to rest in Spain!!. I ask myself who will raise Spain!. In Spain people think that money grow in the trees. Fortunate of you if you do the things so.
  7. I should be sincere with you: I support me with google translate. But I'm learning.
  8. Atlas Shrugged is more elaborated and complete, but I like much more The Fountainhead because I feel identified with Howard Roark and I find many people in Spain like Peter Keating. Of course, American and British discovered the true reality of life, to my benefit.
  9. Hello, my name is Daniel. I present you my respects. I'm an admirer of British and american culture and a follower of Nathaniel Branden. His books helped me so much. I read too, thanks to him, Ayn rand (Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead). I've found answers to many personal problems that happened me in the past to me and my family. I've also found answers to the many problems about the calamitous situation of Spain: the land of Don Quijote. I'm learning english reading philosophy ebooks and history documentaries. The same answers I've found in Ayn Rand, I've found too in philosophy writers (Samuel Samiles, David Hume, Spinoza, Seneca), but in differerent forms. I've learnt the great importance of our childhood in our character:know thyself.I hope to contact and know people from british and american culture. Have helped so much to mankind. Farewell
