He also taught language after he retired from the NYFD.His judgment was that ESL has to fail because it is based on poor assumptions and impractical understandings of classroom teaching dynamics.Many Latino organizations in NY City are opposed to ESL programs as the believe it hampers their children's educational futures.And of course, both of the above are correct.A... Germans were leaders in historical and sociological writing during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and most of it has never been translated. There is a lot I wish I could read. I took two years of French in college and then, around 1978, I attended classes for another two years and even hired a private tutor. That made me able to read French pretty well, but I could never speak it worth a damn. And I've since forgotten nearly everything I knew.
