$45 Billion in Tax Dollars Goes Missing in Afghanistan

Hundreds of millions of dollars are missing in action in Afghanistan, and auditors are blaming the Pentagon’s flawed accounting practices for the problem.

A new report from the office of John Sopko, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), revealed that there’s virtually no way to know what happened to a large chunk of money the Defense Department spent in Afghanistan before 2010.

Some positive thoughts to keep in mind when a ton of looted money goes into a deep, dark hole:

1. Just because the money is missing does not mean it was misspent.

2. And even if it was misspent, that doesn't mean it went to terrorists.

3. And even if it went to terrorists, that doesn't mean it caused much harm.

4. And even if it caused much harm, that doesn't mean that the harm outweighed the good that was done by other tax dollars.

Maybe the President should nationalize the Defense Department because as soon as he hears about this in the "news," he is going to be furious and he is not going to rest until this is fixed!
