GregAnd not only a political difference, but the pragmatic reality - pure and simple. I often wonder if citizens of any vast, or larger country can get their heads round the idea of a whole nation being destroyed. Countries are like frozen abstractions when geographical size is ignored.Amazingly, it seems that a portion of Israelis and other Jews on the Left don't grasp the concept either: if it comes to another major war there will be little advance warning, nowhere to retreat to and nowhere to hide.
