To which I respond: Every great nation and empire has rotted away in the fullness of time.

That's because human nature is to do evil. America used to be exceptional, but is degenerating into just another European liberal socialist nanny state completely infested with benefits leeches.

And the U.S. is only 5 percent of the world's population. There are many other places where interesting things are happening.

Sure... lots of ~worse~ places.

Better build an ark... now... while it's still easy.

And perhaps better places. The U.S. did not exist prior to 1783 but civilization thrived anyway.

Can you offer an example?

Switzerland for instance. 500 hundred years of peace and brotherhood and what have they produced? --- the best chocolate bars on earth. The Swiss have had no bloody wars that have killed and or injured 4 percent of the population (The U.S. Civil War) and have produced some of the best native born mathematicians and scientists (Euler. The brothers Bernouli) The U.S. inherited its brain trust from Europe thanks to Adolph Hitler.

The Swiss have no wars, little crime and the best electric railroads on the planet. The U.S. has terrible train service. The Swiss also dig better and longer tunnels than anyone in the U.S.

The worst I can say about the Swiss is that they can be a bit tedious at times.
