Doug Ford finally names white nationalist Faith Goldy in denouncing hate speech

[...] Ford said Monday that his photo was taken with thousands of people at Ford Fest. He had come under mounting pressure from anti-hate and religious organizations to speak out against Goldy.

Bernie Farber, chair of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, said Monday that Ford’s “refusal to disassociate himself with those who enable white nationalism should frighten us all into action."

“Much of my professional life has been dedicated to exposing and battling white supremacy and neo-Nazism,” tweeted Farber, a former CEO of the Canadian Jewish Congress. “Never in Canada has any mainstream politician given credence to those who associate with or enable white supremacy until today.”

In an opinion piece for the Star published Wednesday, Farber wrote: “Goldy is well-known to Ford. She was a colleague of the premier’s when they both appeared on Sun News panels. He was also interviewed by Goldy before she was fired from the ultra-right Rebel Media for her support of neo-Nazis in Charlottesville.”

btw - Here's the lady the fake news in Canada likes to smear as a "white supremacist" in a meeting with non-Muslim minorities from Bangladesh who live in Canada.

She may not win this election (or she just might :) ), but this is how you build a patriotic movement.

Go to where the people who vote are. Talk to them, not just to a camera.

Meeting by meeting, irrespective of size.

Work your ass off.

And speak with the same passion and promote the same patriotic platform everywhere. Do not look down on anyone (except elitists  ).

Faith Goldy is going places. She's like a young Trump making her first political inroads. Doug Ford sees it, too.

She doesn't need to win an election, and "patriotic" is in the eye of the beholder, but she is polling at about the level I imagined she would. Maybe next time she can aim at something achievable, like running for school board  or a seat in the federal parliament once her "OMG white genocide" stance becomes mainstream.

Among decided voters (excluding undecided voters), Tory has 63.7% support, while Keesmaat has 30.7%. Faith Goldy drops to 1.5%, while Global News debate participants Sarah Climenhaga and Saron Gebresellassi have 1.3% and 1.1% respectively.

Faith "White Genocide" Goldy is ...

Trump is deeply unpopular in Canada, Michael.  If you have faith in the "Spirit of Trump" you might have overlooked that fact.

Not out of the context of damaging Canadian imports to the US or being bullied into a new trade agreement with the US Mexico run-around. Maybe in 10 years and they're all driving Cadillacs.

Faith Goldy was in the vanguard of 'just asking questions' about the Quebec Mosque attack, as part of the 'the killers were actually Muslims'  Truther movement. Yes, that line was pushed by Alex Jones and the usual suspects on the Infowars crew.

It disgusted me then, and it will probably disgust you now, if you aren't caught up in the "Spirit."

Der Stürmer. Apparently Anglin decided "Total Fascism" wasn't likely to attract the young'uns to his Nazi beliefs.

William,

Nervous, are you?

If Trump is so unpopular in Canada and Faith is such an evil woman, why the intense interest?

And why the constant use of argument by repetition about "white supremacy"?

Shouldn't that be evident to everyone if true?

I mean, the way you think about this stuff is a done deal in Canada, no?

So why so nervous?

Brant,

Well, then, there should be no problem allowing her on the debate stage for the Toronto mayoral election.

Right?

Yet they ban her despite her being high up in the ranking of likely voter choice.

:)

Oh well, Canada.

Remember the good old days when Trump was a "buffoon" who would "never be president," yuk yuk yuk?

:)

Maybe Doug Ford is just having a little fun...

OH, EM, GEE...!!

They love Bernie Sanders in Canada! hmm, there is an export option. Frankly, I am rather stunned by this poll, and of a fair number of Canadians, apparently.

William,

I forsee great things: how about a South African - Canadian Union Of Socialist States? Alright, Canada-South Africa, if you insist.

CANSAUSS. Has a solid ring to it.

How exciting!

All in all, a fairly happy, boring place compared to your republic, by some measures.  South Africans who emigrate to Canada are either in a 'business class' (meaning their jobs are secured before departure), via Express Entry, skilled workers programmes, or via the Provincial Nominee systems -- and otherwise according to our points system.  I have really enjoyed talking with folks from RSA (including a few medical doctors). The vast majority of South African-Canadians are white.

You might enjoy this brief report from a young South African who has made her home here: A South African In Canada: What To Know About Living In Canada.

Folks who have not lived in Canada can sometimes be surprised by us and our ways, yes.  At the top of that list is probably Quebec. For a look behind the scenery and joie de vivre, a report on the coming election there.

Here's a fun video from someone who was Quite Surprised by Toronto. She thought everyone there looked like they came from Africa. Poor old chucklehead:

Yes, a popular destination for S African professionals, together with Australia, and as you state, are mostly white. Poor souls, what they crave is a place that's "boring", where things work and are maintained, where the police arrive promptly when called, where cabinet ministers, when they are found out, resign or go to jail for malfeasance. Etc. Where being white and male is okay (sorta) and doesn't draw blame and create guilt.

Movement of professionals in medicine and business, is a useful indicator. As was commonly said about Jews, when "they" start leaving, watch out! Industrialists and doctors are the value-makers, value-sustainers and value-adders, are they not? Their gain to some nations is their loss to others. I watch and am impressed by the Canadian programme, How It's Made and others like it. The unbelievably many facets of productivity of innumerable factories and manufacturers all over North America is gladdening to view. Very few to none of those workers and business owners are among the quasi- Socialist Sanders supporters -- you can bet..

No worries, if you have any, Socialism isn't a close threat for Canada, I don't believe. The rate of change of societies though, is growing faster in recent times - so don't get too complacent. ;) A lot can happen in one generation. Anyhow, I estimate a large percentage of the people polled with Socialist sympathies, in pretty free and successful and therefore somewhat soft and pampering societies, are 'play-play Socialists', spouting theory learned at University to aggravate the Conservatives, impress the girls, and so on. The best place to "be" Socialist, after all, or support fantasies of it, is in rich countries where the outcome is improbable. Where one won't pay for one's ideological errors. What's certain is that the multi-millions of fanatical Hugo Chavez supporters in a poorer country that's now devastated, where it did come about, are all, right now, pleading "But I didn't mean it!" One usually suffers for one's errors and evasions.

At one point we had five national communist parties, with two competing deeply-mad Trotskyite factions.  They kinda all fell apart in 1990 surprise surprise. The five parties could never get their shit together enough to get on more than a handful of riding ballots.  And where they did, the showing was always deeply embarrassingly awful and of course blamed on 'factionalism.'  Har de har har.

I always advise 'active' communists here to start small, start local. Run for Park Board or School Trustee or head of household ... for the most part I just feel sorry for the real commies. They have about as much chance at power as the moles in our garden.  They are members of very stupid anachronistc cults. Don't get me started on their intellectual cousins, the Arnachists. Arnachy! Cash my welfare cheque first.

As with most advanced industrialized democracies, our federal government is a conservative followed by a liberal followed by a conservative followed by a liberal.  The federal 'social democratic' party here would look at a Bernie Sanders and say, "You are a hundred years old and have been in office for far too long. It is time to retire and oh! you have been voted out by your own riding association. Bye-ee ..."

Our Parliaments are from time to time flushed right out, with a party's incumbents forced out by vengeful or fickle voters. For example, the conservative government of Brian Mulroney had the largest majority of all time with over 200 MPs.  Two elections later, they were flushed from the House, retaining 3 seats total.

I love a good crushing. Either way.  It makes up for the defects of first-past-the-post.  Or a cleansing resignation due to scandal (key words: Bill Vander Zalm, Fantasy Gardens, Bribery).

A query:  does RSA have a form of proportional representation?  I ask because we face a referendum next month on this issue in British Columbia and I don't know how I am going to vote.

Zzzzzzzz.

Spoiler

There is (and probably will still be) a little pain, but I suspect a lot of Canadians will soon make a lot more money than they used to.

When international deals are lopsided, the money flows uphill to insiders. When the deals are balanced, everybody wins. Even the goddam insiders. Balance is one of the gears of wealth creation (as opposed to wealth confiscation).
