Introducing Quotes section

Once in a while a thread appears on OL citing quotes. Normally they fizzle out after a small run. Barbara just asked me why not make some kind of section for this.

Good question. Why not?

So here it is. Post your favorite quotes and discuss them.

I will migrate the other quotes threads on OL to here.

A word of caution. Quotes, like jokes, lose their effectiveness when presented in mass. It is better to post one quote, discuss it, then another a few days later, than to copy/paste 600 quotes at one time from the Internet. Nobody will read that, whereas with one quote (or a small few), people will savor it and the seed of wisdom will be planted in the hearts and minds of all who enjoy it.

You say, "Come on, Williams, there will never be the kind of socialist oppression seen elsewhere here!" You might be right because Americans have become very compliant with unconstitutional and immoral congressional edicts. But what do you think would happen if some Americans began to rise up and heed Thomas Jefferson's admonition "Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force." and decided to disobey unconstitutional congressional edicts?

"I am glad that I paid so little attention to good advice; had I abided by it I might have been saved from some of my most valuable mistakes."

Edna St. Vincent Millay

Have you made "valuable mistakes?" I have.

Barbara

I have a collection of those foam thingy's you put a drink into to keep it cold, the text on one of them reads:

I'm experienced enough to recognize the mistakes I'll make again.

Another, going off topic a bit, reads Beauty is in the eye of the Beer Holder

This is priceless. Is it just me, or did we just catch Barbara spamming/bumping?? :P
