Thorn
Craig Mullins is a legendary concept artist. He's one of the pioneers in digital art, beginning to paint digitally some time around the stone age (do you remember when MS Paint was new? He started before that...). Perhaps part of the legend is because little is known about his techniques. Unlike many others he doesn't seem to teach or promote videos on youtube. He's just got this little website, with... well, I think the correct term would be 'seriously bad-ass art'.http://www.goodbrush.com/

Brant Gaede
I think this particular one is impressive but kitsch. It has to be India, I suppose, but that's an African elephant. If this is supposed to be a parade, sort of okay, but if they are going off to battle they'll be cut to pieces for there's only one officer, the guy on top, but no aides--maybe a few non-commissioned officers or equivalent. Actually, they cannot even march. They could not even assemble. And there's little or no story in the picture either. It's trying to imply power but to me it's just kitsch. The author simply does not know his subject in any respect but thinks he does.--Brant
Thorn
I think that one is an illustration for Age of Empires, showing the Ottoman empire in some context within the game. It's meant to be dramatic and evocative, and fit within a certain context.I think there are tons more interesting and impressive painting on his site.
