I once read an interesting speculation (can't remember from where) concerning the decline of classical music in our culture.

Classical music is alive and well today in feature film scores.

In keeping with the religious theme: pop artist Peter Gabriel did a great job with his soundtrack for the Last Temptation of Christ. Apart from the religious element, I think the music here would be admissible into the Objectivist theory of art/Romanticism (please don't crucify me for that statement)
