??

I don't understand this thread .. the first post says garbage pile and the second says happy to oblige.

Makes no sense.

Phil,

I'll try to go slow.

The first post says, "garbage pile."

The second says, "happy to oblige."

The title says "request for garbage pile."

I'm trying to think of a way to simplify this...

Are you sure you don't enough command of the English language to understand this stuff?

:)

Michael

I'm confused about Ted's goal in both creating a thread with the title "Request for garbage pile" and then writing this first post.

Why did you write that, Ted?

Michael wrote:

end quote

The Title is a request for all this subscriber’s posts to be placed in the Garbage Pile.

The second line from this subscriber insists his posts be placed in the Garbage Pile.

Michael complies with the original request in the third line.

I think the exchange is as logical as two computers named "Hal" corresponding with each other.

Oh dear. Apparently Ted wrote a “name-calling” post last night (I didn’t see it), then another post, which only said “Garbage pile”. This was on the Geert Wilders thread.

http://www.objectivistliving.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10393&view=findpost&p=130815

MSK deleted the “name-calling” one, and peeled off the “Garbage pile” post to it’s own thread, this thread. Much needless confusion has ensued.

My objective is to achieve the widest possible exposure for the upcoming release of Atlas Shrugged first part of the trilogy.

I assume that quite a few will follow this seemingly ludicrous thread which is otherwise a complete waste of time. At least they might find this link to the Atlas Shrugged movie site here which is worth knowing about.

And here is the link to my favorite trailer from the movie:

Please, don't turn it into something like this:

Xray,

Here's a technical explanation. Whenever I remove a post from a thread and throw it here as a new thread, it appears like it was started by the poster. It's a software thing. The program calls this "splitting the topic" when I do it.

That's why I always make a post or some other indication (like a comment within the opening post) that I was the one who did it.

There might be better solutions, but once something goes here, I just don't want to spend a lot of time thinking about how to pretty it up.

Let's spend time and effort on the good stuff, not the garbage.

Wait a minute, I can’t think when you’ve bothered to seriously insult or vilify me. I take it, therefore, that you’re now claiming I’m not a "thoughtful poster". How insulting!

Yes, how dare you insult ND that way. Everyone knows it's a badge of honor to be ridiculed by Jeff:

Jeff, please say something about ND's not knowing anything about X, Y, and Z or not having reached the Platonic Nirvana of Jeffaronian Expertise so he won't feel left out and will bring his fingers down...

I bet he hasn't read any Faulkner beyond A Rose for Emily. Next time he starts strutting around like he's a literary expert just for having read the complete works of Eco and Pynchon, let him have it!

Hmm - I never never looked at it from that angle. :D

But the little skeptic residing in my brain has just pushed the "irony alert" button after reading reading your post. ;)

Xray, I see your "Hmmm" and double it.

Had Jeffaronious know that ND has read the -complete- works of Eco and Pynchon, he would have immediately accorded him the status of Literary Expert and the rarefied status where even his s### don't stink.

(I personally am willing to bow down before ND now that I know this and beg him humbly to forgive my ever having questioned any view that he has expressed on literature or home repair.)

Hmm - maybe Brant is right and the large number of thoughtful posters is the reason for JR's backlog? :)

You put a lot of thought into your "thoughtless" thoughtfulness. I can tell.
